I wasn’t too sure where to past this, but I found this cruising round the net today. It is by far the biggest site for early music I’ve found…doubt I’ll ever find anything bigger! It is at http://www.acc.umu.se/~akadkor/theory/Early-Music-Map.html
You can go to http://www.acc.umu.se if you wish, and type in early music from there. Im going to see what happens when I type in other search terms in there, didn’t get anything for ocarina, but its seems to be a good site, I imagine there will be plenty of material for other things there too
Enjoy!
I put in the search term “irish” and was given a link to ShopIrish. I think they have a ways to go as far as development goes. ![]()

Is there any actual music (dots, MP3s, etc) on the site? I clicked on several links and didn’t find any.
alas, man doth not live by soda scones alone…
well, on the left hand side, the menu there, you’ll see concert mp3s, and when I went to “repetoire support” on the left hand side again, they had mp3s/midis/pdfs for pieces. If you look around the site enough, you’ll bump into all that stuff.

I spent some time on the above site, and yes there are some dots and some MP3 files but you really have to dig for them and then they are scarce. Most prime links lead you to a Wiki on the composer or another homepage.
As to listing composers bye periods i.e. Early Music, Renaissance is a good start but you still do a lot clicking to get some where.
But thanks for the heads up and I will bookmark it and keep an eye on it.

These sites here, at least a couple of them, are better organized:
http://ace.acadiau.ca/score/archive/ftp.htm
http://crab.rutgers.edu/~pbutler/music.html
I like that second one, its nicely organized with a pretty good list of songs with pdfs and midis
The first site is portal, you can go to alot of places from there, and this ones a portal too:
http://www.vocalist.org.uk/free_sheet_music_links.html
If you go to the ancient music part, you’ll see most of the sites I was talking about.
Boy, you have to dig for early music, don’t you? At least I’ve found something…
Soda scones? What are they? Are they like Soda Farls?
well, on the left hand side, the menu there, you’ll see concert mp3s, and when I went to “repetoire support” on the left hand side again, they had mp3s/midis/pdfs for pieces. If you look around the site enough, you’ll bump into all that stuff.
Thanks! I’m just horrible at finding stuff hidden in plain sight. ![]()
