New Member Says Hello, Won't Reveal True Identity

Sounds like Gary may know. Gary, send me a prive message with your answer. If it is correct, you win a Bodhran, complements of StevePowers. That’s “buy-one, get only one free,” of course.

Yes, a scottish rally driver who was champion twice in the 1980s.

Oh, Gary says, “Your last name begins with the letter W.”

What is the point of this? Give it up man, you’ve been found out.

I have resisted until now, but not anymore. For the record, as you know, I know who you are, too. And I’ll ask again…

Madonna, what is the point of all this???

Jessie

Dearest Jessie,
It’s a material thing.

I, too, have chosen to keep my identity a secret. Hmm…I don’t think this is going to work. Well, I won’t reveal my mother’s maiden name.
Tony

Cinead,
The more important things…what whistle(s) do you play? Have you contracted WhOA? Are you prepared to spend too much time on this board? Do you play in sessions? Do you play whistle while driving? Are you pining for pipes or flutes? Do you understand this whole business about playing/transposing in different keys? Enquiring minds want to know!

Welcome to the community!
Ailin

PS - I’m guessing you’re not Reba McEntire.

Gary,

You may be right, but don’t you want to find out how long it takes for others to arrive at a positive ID as you have?

No. I just want my free bodran

Can you at least give us a hint…?

Brent

Heel/Toe or left foot braking? Only a real Rally Driver would know.

I know who you are too. It only took 30 seconds. I used NorthernLight.com to identify you, KW.

How do you really know that I am who you think? Perhaps I am an escaped alien from the X Files which has assumed his body…

Oh Gary, that bodhran offer needs a little more explaining. That’s “buy one, get the same one free.”

Cinead

Me thinks I know it…

Dearest Ailin:

My, my, you are inqusitive. I’ll try to answer your questions. Here goes.

What whistles do I have? Answer: O’Riordan, Sindt, Clarke, Slide, Referee. The first three seriously. (Have you all checked your whistles for spiders lately?)

Yes, I was driving and whistling simultaneously before I knew it was a disease. During the days of Bush’s Inauguration, I drove around Washington D.C. whistling patriotic tunes. They changed to Irish tunes as I passed Phoenix Park Hotel, the Dubliner and O’Kelly’s. (Incidentally, O’Kelly’s has a statue of Elvis right behind the musician’s platform.)
That same week in Washington, I played impromtu whistle concerts at several national monuments. Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and the Unknown Soldier have all been in my audiences. At a forth monumental whistle concert, George Washington sent a stand-in.

Yes, I’ve already spent waaaaay too much time on this board. (A good spell check system on the board would cut my time in half. Is there one I don’t know about. Mispelled wurds are soo tackey.)

I’m hoping my time on the board will shrink a little. I’ve got a produ…uh hem…I’ve got somthing I’m working on that demands a lot of my time.

I shudder at the thought, but I may just be in the early stages of WhOA. There may still be hope. I’m going in for a check up as soon as I get Michael Copeland, Mike Burke, Pat O’Riordan, John Sindt, Renaldo Reyburn and those six other guys to get my orders filled.

The flute question: I rented a flute for three months, but returned it to devote my time to my piano and my beloved whistles.

The pipe part of the flute question: I am a Davy Spillane fan. I’m working on getting his whole collection. I’ve thought about pipes. I’ve also thought about a bodhran too. Ask Steve. But I am trying hard to pace my purchases so that I will not have to move my family out of the house. (Steve, don’t give up on me.)

The transposing question: Yes, I know about transposing from years of writing for and directing different worship bands. I write songs out for them using the Nashville numbering system (i.e. If “1” = “C”, then “4” = “F”.). On piano, I play at a proficient level in any key and most any style. Since I’ve played by ear for years, it’s easy for me to transpose quickly. I think in numbers instead of letters.

I don’t play in sessions, but I write for the whistle, mostly airs. I’m working on “Flight of the Bumble Bee” to get my speed up.

Whew, I think I’m done. Now to spell cheque.

Thank you for your welcome Ailin. I appreciate it very much.

Yours truly,

Cinead

PS Reba McIntire (Irish last name) has moved to Nashville. Her family still lives in Atoka. I do know her sister Susie. She has been in our home. We have attended rodeos together where Susie has sung the National Anthem and performed Sunday church services with her husband Paul.

Brent

My Dear Cinead,

I too have identified you.
(and I am e-mailing you right after this message)
Do I get a free Bodhran ?
I’ll settle for a set of bones Steve.

Sibyle

Steve…looks like you’re in trouble…Cinead posted misleading bribery that you’re supposed to follow through on. Uh-oh.

Cinead, I would like to hear you playing “Flight of the Bumble-Bee” on the whistle. Please, you must post it to clips-and-snips. So, chromatic high-speed playing on the whistle is no problem for you?

I rather enjoy my anonymity here, welcome to the forum pilgrim. John Wayne …is dead. “The h*?+! I am!”
