Hello Everyone. My name is Cinead [This is a secret alias name I use on the web to keep from revealing my real name.] One hint to my real identity is that I am from Oklahoma.
There have been many sitings of me in the past, but I have cleverly escaped being photographed or captured.
What? You think I’m Elvis?
What? You think I think I’m Elvis?
Come on now…everybody knows Elvis is dead. I know because I visited his grave at Graceland and asked him, “Elvis, if you’re dead, say, ‘Nothing’.” He said, “Nothing.”
Actually, I’m just haveing fun with you so,
don’t think I’m crazy. I know I am, for I, like most of you play Irish whistle in traffic and subscribe to Dale Wisley’s Chiff and Fipple Newsleter. It’s a healthy crazy though…Nothin’ really but good o’ Irish fun.
Speaking of Elvis, if Elvis were to sing an Irish song it would go something like this: “And a Lepruchan hides…in the meadow…”
By the way, 23.9 percent of Oklahomans are of Irish decent. Only Massachusetts and a couple of other North Eastern states in the USA have a percentage more. Irish people in America out-number Irish in Ireland. Over here, Boston is called northern Ireland. The rest of the country is just called Ireland. If Northern Ireland really wanted to remove the last vestages of British rule, all they had to do was ask us for help.
Back to whistles…
My interest in the Irish whistle began with “Titanic” and really took hold a year ago with the beautiful music of “Lord of the Dance.”
My first learned instrument was and is the piano. I have played professionally for many years. I have been fortunate to find that much of my knowledge in music from piano has been transferrable to the whistle.
The hardest part, after learning the initial fingering for the notes, has been to learn how to blow at the right amounts to avoid the squeeks and squaks. After that it was fun to learn the bends, slides and ornamental trills. I have found that getting a quality whistle makes all the difference in the world.
I am a songwriter and have begun to write music on and for the Irish whistle. I am also a producer and author. I have even written a serious book on finding and living your purpose in life. No one may request a copy of it, however, because it would reveal my true identity.
Actually, only two persons know my real name on this message board. I have subscribed to the C&F Newsletter for quite a while and e-mail Dale on a frequent basis about a new, top-secret, project I’m working on.
Someday, in the not-to-distant future, I’ll break the news to all of you before the public finds out. In the mean time, I look forward to reading and sharing comments with you here at the Board on a regular basis.
All the best,
Cinead
