The Posts Go Ever On And On.....

Howdy Everyone!

As the person who had started a recent discussion about starting yet another new forum (for whistle reviews), and having followed that thread and the other recent threads on a variety of topics, I just wanted to share a few general thoughts I’ve had as a result:

  1. First and foremost, the more I look at other forums, the more I realize what a wonderful forum this…the format of the forum is great, and, most important, the Membership is a fantastic group of people. I am continually impressed and pleased not only by how generous, helpful and etc everyone is, but also in how well this group deals with those unfortunate instances when tempers flare and “stuff” gets said. Like families, forums seem to vary widely in how “functional” they are in fostering comraderie and goodwill and resolving conflict, and though nothing is perfect, I’d say this forum is pretty darned good.

  2. I now agree with the recent comments by Loren and others that one of the strenghts of this forum is that most of the discussion happens in the main forum. I’ve now seen some other forums that have a gazillion subforums for every conceivable subject, and those forums are weakened, I believe, by those divisions. So, for example, for whistle reviews if we can come up with a better searchable naming convention to help out the search engine, well maybe thats the best answer afterall. They say, if it aint broke, dont fix it, but maybe tweek it just a little…

  3. Since the overall significance of this forum was recently a topic of heated discussion, I just wanted to take a separate post to say that the information, guidance and support provided by the members of this forum have had a significant and positive impact on my own development as a musician. A lot of kind people have sent me info or have helped me out in various ways, and since I’m sure I’ve been remiss in showing my appreciation, I’m broadcasting a general Thank You. Y’all know who you are, and the fact that there are so many that I cant begin to pull a good list together speaks volumes.

If other newbies who stumble into the forum get out of it even a fraction of what I have, well then we as a group are doin’ some pretty darned Good Work.

Respectfully and Appreciatively,

DAZED

More proof of our overall insignificance.

I like this kind of insignficance. And unintelligence…

Thanks to you, Kev.

I think Dazed is right. Perhaps review threads’ subject lines could start with “RV:” and we could edit the older threads’ subject lines to conform to this protocol. Perhaps we could even have a “Reviews” link at top of the page that, when clicked, runs a search string for all the “RV:” threads. Therefore the reviews would be in the main forum, yet easily accessible by themselves.

Ok, remember you said it, not me.

Dazed is correct about boards which are split into various topics. I joined another which has many splits, and it isn’t as strong, or as interesting as this one. This board does have a lot of personality and it is definitely not boring.

Hey everybody! Im famous! I have a monitor commenting on my posts.

Thanks for the honor but your attentions are unwelcome. I say thanks to a friend and you mess with me instead of continuing the good feeling towards Kev? He made a very positive statement and I was reflecting that despite our recently charged insignificance, good things happen here at this Forum that make it worthwhile…

Do you have any original things to say for yourself or are you just going to react to others and me in particular?

I checked your posts (and know you like Susatos) to try and understand where you are coming from and how you communicate because your posts of today are just one line sentences. But it doesn’t make much sense to target me because I never knocked Susatos nor Serpents but tried to understand KMikes posts and took a pretty moderate stance about all of this because I own, use and have performed on Susatos…Yet I receive your “loving” attention. Sorry, I’m taken. Take your attention elsewhere.

Weird.

How does making statements like “I like this kind of insignificance. And unintelligence…” continue the “good” feelings? You got “your” feelings hurt because you took my “intelligent people” post personally.

I have many pennywhistles besides Susatos. My comments about people on this forum taking Mike Kelhorn to task had nothing to do with my like of his products.

And as far as my being your “monitor”…well, I haven’t felt the need to check up on your posts.

Someone wanted to know who I meant by the “intelligent people” on this forum were. And once again I am telling you that the intelligent people on here won’t be commenting on my posts! Get it?

PeeWacker,

I am one of the dumb ones. Where the hell is Dayton, TX? Next time I’m out that way, we need to get together for a jam session. After I finish whippin your ass, you’ll have to show me what you can do with your Susatos. I have a sneaking suspicion that your playing is a bit on the sharp side of your wit.

Ha, Ha. Thanks. I like a good joke.

PeeWackit,

I forgot to mention…between the ass whippin and whistle playin you’ll get a lesson in good old fashioned manners. I suspect that you are not a native Texan. I can sympathize to some extent, but we’ll remedy what we can and at least teach you how to behave like one.

Happy tootin,

Robert

Big Tex,

I am usually pretty civil on this board. I can usually overlook stupidity, but sometimes I can’t let stupidity pass me by without making a comment.

For someone that just joined this forum and his only two posts were threats to whup my ass, I would say that you are the one that could use some manners. I think you should hang loose for a while and read some of the forum before you start acting like an asshole.

And yes, I am a native Texan.

Craig

PS: I am not afraid of you…I went to Ninja school!

If the hollow sound of your own laughter brings you comfort and happiness, then mazel tov. I prefer to share my laughter with friends.

Like I said, Enders, nothing is perfect, but Mr. Whacket is only further reinforcing my point…time and again this forum endures disagreements amongst its regular members as well as occasional provocations from mysterious, “intelligent” lamers such as this. This one does present a new and interesting twist: he provokes us by begging to be ignored. While I appreciate and share the sentiments of Enders and Tex, and the unspoken sentiments of numerous others, I shall, with the slight exception below, give him all the attention that he deserves, namely, none at all, and would encourage everyone else to do the same.

Actually, Mr. Whacket, speaking for myself, the intended recipient of Enders’ comments, I can say that I appreciated his comments, and took/understood them in the spirit in which they were intended. This is clear to any and all who are of average intelligence and are regular participants in the board. It is you who apparently misunderstood, took comments personally and felt the need to respond inappropriately. Either that or you are intentionally misbehaving, which obviously is a clear violation of the hallowed Reasonble Person Principle, and will quickly earn you a visit from the Crystal People.

Welcome aboard, Tex. Thanks for the backup, but his transparent attempts at provocation are tiresome for everyone. If you really want to piss him off, then just ignore him. Permanently.

That’s what I keep trying to tell you guys, but nobody will listen.

Pywackoff,

Easy there partner. I was just slappin’ you around some for being such a little shit. I’m really more the mellow type like DazedinLA, and I was only pullin your hat down a bit. By the way, what Dojo do belong to in Dayton? I competed last month at the Trueforce TKD tournament in San Antonio for the first time. I took a real beating in a semi final, but it was a blast all the same. Funny thing was, my hands were so swollen for two days, that despite the soreness I have never played a better on my Copeland Low D. I think the fattened fingers gave me the extra tight seal that has eluded me.

Dazed - thanks for the warm welcome. If you are ever in Bandera, we have sessions at Arkey’s Blue and The Silver Dollar Bar every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. There a few whistlers that attend and some damn good fiddlers banjo and guitar players. We weave a good bit of Irish trad in with the country and bluegrass. I’ll shut up now and lurk some more.

edited for typos..

Week, it looks like you have a stalker.

Peewacker, that’s even better than lamer

And to Peewacker,

The reason Big Tex only has a few post is because he’s a lurker. Which, judging by your" intelligence", should go to show you that even a lurker was drawn into the spotlight by your unproductive manner. And it should tell you something that even if he was a totally new chiffer wouldn’t you think it would take him a while to notice your insulting, arrogant, negative and uncurtious posts. It is that obvious. The fact of the matter is that he chose to use his first post to tell that you’re a little rude. He seems like a nice fellow and would rather post in a more productive manner. And I should add that he speaks for a lot of people on this board who would rather be silent than respond in a negative fashion.

Big Tex, welcome to the board and thanks for speaking up.

I’m sorry Kevin for reacting to him.

And is it just me, or is everyone on this damn board a train martial artist? (including me)

I can’t comment on any of the other stuff, but I earned a brown tip in Sanshinkai Karate , and was ready to test for my brown belt when I was sidelined, first by pregnancy and then by the demands of parenthood. Used to love to compete.

All this is making me homesick for the dojo :frowning:

I don’t think Big Tex is new to the board. No, he knows that he can log on under a different name and then say whatever he likes. Please forgive me, Big Tex, if I am wrong, but I have been with C & F for I don’t know how many board changes, and this kind of act pops up every once in a while. People are fighting, so one of them will log on as a newbie. Think about it. He is cussing you down, theatening you, says he comes from Texas but doesn’t know where Dayton is. And when did he join? Today! I wouldn’t let this guy bother you, even if he were real. Although, I do think it is somewhat illegal to threaten someone like Big Tex is doing. One thing some people can’t do is to let things go.

JP

I’m not done, yet.

I can’t believe you people who are welcoming “Big Tex” onto our board. Gee, Pywacket was not totally on my side of the fence on many posts, but that’s OK. I can live with that. But “Proud to be an American”, displayed on many bumpers, means that we do have freedoms here in America, but it doesn’t mean we have the legal freedoms to beat someone up, or to threaten someone that way. I will stick up for Pywacket, because he has the freedom to say what he has said, even though others don’t agree. And if you are for beating people up, as “Big Tex” and those who welcome him are, then you don’t deserve the freedoms you were born into.

John Palmer

Big Tex represents all that I’m glad to be away from after living in Texas for four years. Some things there are very nice, but not those insufferable rednecks and pinechoppers.
