new here

Just wanted to check in here for good manners. I play several instruments, guitar is my first, then harmonica, banjo, mandolin, and many different types of flute. Though I never have played a keyed flute, only fifes, and whistles.

Welcome, Ty, nice to meet you.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome!

Welcome and it sounds like you will fit right in.

Hiya, love the Picard.

Welcome. You’ll love it here. Whistles are great. Like flying by the seat of your pants, they are. You can buy a 3 dollar whistle and make serious music with it. Or spend as much as you want. For what you would spend on a cheap guitar, you can fill a beer mug with whistles. They lend themselves well to self improvements. In fact, you might find you can’t leave them alone, even if they come from the store playing decently. In fact you could find yourself building your own in a fairly short time. Or just buying more, and more, and more, and more…
People around here trade off and sell perfectly good whistles just so they can buy more, btw…
A good rule of thumb, is if you don’t have one of every kind, you don’t have enough.

Hi Darth, I’m sure you’ll get a lift out of being here.

…great welcome. I have already made several whistles, and side blown flutes. The kids at my old church loved the pvc six hole fifes I used to make. They all seam to have their own voice (the whistles too, haha). I can make them concert pitch, but sometimes I just let the holes fall where they may. My favorite whistle is my tweaked Clarke, it’s black with a wooden fipple.

Thanks again.
