My new whistles are here!

My Cillian O Briain (and accompanying free Meg) arrived in the mail from Shanna Quay today! I’m really pleased…the O Briain is a sweet whistle, and I think it’s going to become a favorite (when I was twiddling around on it, my daughter called “nice music!” from the other room…not something she’s said about my whistling before  ). It will take a bit of practice to get the breath control just right in the upper octave, but I think it’s going to be worth the effort.

The real surprise, however, is the Meg (thanks, btw, for putting that in, Steve, even though I forgot to click the “Free Meg” button on my order!). It’s a lovely little whistle…not as breathy as the Clarke traditional (I don’t have a Sweetone, so this is my first experience of a Clarke with a plastic fipple)…very pleasant to listen to and to play (and very attractive too…neat and workmanlike, and not at all “toy-ish”). I have a feeling Clarke is going to sell quite a lot of these. Music for the masses!

Off to play with my new…er…toys!

Sounds cool dude!
I’ve never tried O’Briains, but it I’ve heard good things about them.

In fact, I have just recently received a Copeland in d. It’s sooooo nice. You have no idea. Anyway, I’ll probably get a Meg sooner or later, just to try it.
later,

I’m particularly pleased with the upper octave on the O’Briain. It’s not only true, it’s sweet and rich…none of that “shrillness” my family cringes at when I play high songs on my other whistles. I’ve been happily practicing for a couple of hours now, and the more I play it, the more I like it.
