I just have to share…

My dad came home from work today, and guess what he had for me.
Yup a clarke original still in the box!
I’ve only had it for a half-hour but I LOVE it. I’m used to playing feadogs and I have a cooperman, but this one (literally) blows them away.

I love the clarke original, especially the unpainted because it gets all the cool marks around the holes :smiley:. I also really like how the gold diamonds on the black ones look (although I realize some people don’t.)

I am thinking of getting a tweaked one so it takes less breath (that is my one complaint about them.)

Interesting how opinions on that whistle vary. It was my first whistle too…and I remember how I disliked it. My second whistle was a Clarke Sweetone, which I loved much more than Org…

My Clarke Original was my second whistle–it has superb sound. I have one beside me right now. I love to play it outdoors. And with slow airs and songs it really shines.

I can’t recall when I first got my Clarke Original design whistle in D. All I can say is originally it was black with gold diamonds and now it is solid black with a bit of a chip in the paint on the fipple with a couple more chips in the paint.

It is my second favorite whiste to play, but is my “old reliable” whistle which I pull out in public. My first favorite D whistle is now the Every whistle with the just intonation tuning

That is the tuning scale that indicates that b is flat on an electronic tuner that reads only equal temperament like most tuners do.

I use a ZEN-ON Chromatina 331, myself but I prefer a D tuning fork to tune with, or my little pocket chromatic pitchpipe, Farley’s Pocket Tones Chromatic Tuner - Black (CPT-05). I like this one as I can tune to the drone frequency of the bagpipe tuning we are playing in, (I have D and C UPs). It is handy to tune my whistles too (as soon as I get a low Eb whistle, I will be chromatic in whistles).

I can tune them and tell if they are in tune by putting it close to my ear and playing the bell and octave notes, then the rest of the scale needs to harmonize with the base note. It is handy when you do or don’t have the drones working as it eases the tuning of my instruments.
