Clarke's Meg

The Meg is to be out this week. Anyone who tries them, please report your opinion.

It is similar to the Sweetone, but made inexpensively in the Far East.

This reminds me of Hohner making the Bluesband, and other low-end harmonicas in the Far East. Their original European enterprise has really suffered.

Hohner and Clarke were both pioneering 19th Century producers of people’s instruments.

P. S. The new Lark in the Morning newsletter has Megs in black for $3.00 each, in ‘C’ or ‘D.’

I’m planning a Lark order this summer. Maybe I’ll throw in a Meg for kicks.

Huh? I’m waiting until Thom at the Whistle Shop gets 'em in!

Anna, looks like you won’t have to wait too long. There is a note on The Whistle Shop website that says they have a shipment “on the way”. BTW, have been arrested yet?

So, has anyone gotten/tried a Meg yet?

I’d like to hear how they are before I order a bunch for the kids.

Thanks

‘Meg’ walked in to Shanna Quay this morning!

Well, she was carried by the postman - how quaint! And, she’s gorgeous - both in her shiny silver number and her black outfit (in D and C).
Must be the first commercial arrival in Ireland.

Steve

I’d like to see it! Does anyone have a picture of one?? I plan on getting a couple of these for my kids…

Yes, Here’s one I prepared earlier, Steve

I played prototypes in C and in D and then, last week, I got official, final versions. (Bless the people at Clarke–they sent me the 1st C and the 1st D off the production line). I have to say I’m a fan of the Sweetone and I think these are terrific little instruments. The tone is different…not as “sweet” perhaps, but it’s going to do well among the inexpensive whistles. And, wow, REALLY inexpensive…
