where I’m putting up close shot videos of my playing common tunes at speed, then slowly.
Right now its all whistle videos, but eventually, I’ll add Drop-D guitar backup, Uilleann pipes and anglo concertina. Other local players and teachers from San Diego may also be contributing to the site.
If you like me to do a video for a specific tune, please drop me an email at:
This is fantastic!!
I certainly will visit a lot, and donate!
I’ve noticed, from your first video, that you lift your fingers far off the whiste when you play. I 've been trying not to do that, thinking it harms my speed. What do you think?
Thanks everyone for the kind words about the site!
Unfortunately, I can’t control what violence YouTube does to the original .mp4 files when they convert them to their own internal format for streaming.
On my system, the audio and video sync is very good, but not as good as the original files I uploaded, so just do the best you can with what they can deliver.
Also, when I first upload the videos to YouTube, there can be a lag of several hours from when YouTube first says they are available to when they will actually play reliably. So if you get a message about a video not being available, and its near the top of the page, just check back the next day or in a few hours. Apparently it takes them some time to fully integrate the new files. The “Musical Priest” video is now available as far as I can tell, I just posted it this morning.
I’m keeping full resolution versions as well, when I get enough videos done to fill a DVD, I’ll make them all available on one DVD for a reasonable charge.
Its a Burke Brass Session Pro. Just how bad are these A/V sync issues some of you are having? I see video leading audio by maybe a 1/15th of a second on my system (fairly modern, cable modem connection). Do you see similar issues with other videos on YouTube or only on mine? I’d sure like to see if there is anything I can do on my end to improve the user experience, but the original files (MPEG-4 video, AAC audio, for iPod) are in sync.
I just went back to check and had no problems at all this time around. Maybe YouTube had a busy weekend. It’s 11 p.m. Mountain time for me and that means it is late night for most North Americans facing a Monday morning at work. I imagine that YouTube traffic is low right now.
Or it could be that my local cable traffic has dropped off. Now that I think about it, the bottleneck is more likely to be in my own neighborhood.
