That’s good news! Thanks for the update.
Hi eskin, Great site - It’s helping me already!
Request: An Phis Fhliuch.
Also - can I link you from my website?
Mitch, sure thing on the link! I’ll get that tune up this week.
Cheers,
Michael
Actually, if anyone who has a website wants to help Michael’s site rank in search engines, may I suggest adding the following link to a page:
Tin whistle video lessons
I’ve added links to a couple of sites I run, Michael.
Good luck with it. Great site.
Hubba hubba! What a great resource. Thanks Michael. The net’s been needing something like this fotr a long time. ![]()

I notice that you’re embedding the videos on your site using ActiveX. A surprising number of companies/ISPs filter ActiveX because of the security threat, so anyone in that situation is likely to see nothing at all (or maybe a warning) when they visit your site. I’m not sure why you’re ending up with an ActiveX component – it looks to me like the embed code from YouTube is just Shockwave, but perhaps you’re doing something unusual.
At any rate, I was able to find your videos by going to YouTube and searching. Maybe you could include a link to the video on YouTube along with the embedded video, so that people who have problems can find the video via the link.
Love the videos, by the way!

I’ve had no problems at all with access to your site or audio and video - I read you 5x5 Michael.
It is nice to be able to watch and hear yet another approach to tunes I’m working with. A worthy and helpful project.

It’s probably not anything you did…I experience video/audio sync. problems with many clips I watch on YouTube.

Nice job…great playing, good format.
I do have one thought: sometimes a very hard thing for a learner to do is move smoothly from the end of the B part back into the A part when the tune repeats.
I think it would be helpful if you played each tune twice through at normal speed before you did the slower version. This would also give you a chance to include a few common variations the second time around.
Just a thought–the site is great and is a tremendous resource like it already is.
Very nicely done.

Thanks for the site. Here in central Oklahoma, not many teachers or sessions around. I can listen to various sites on the net, but this is great to see the finger work. I saw the one on the slow rolls, but for us beginners without help, maybe some more on just basics. I like the Banish Misfortune tape as I have been working on that one. Thanks and keep up the good work. ![]()
In that case you may like this page too, lots to learn here:

Thanks for the pm Eskin!
I will be visiting your site a lot. I love learning sites. I took whistle lessons from a flute player awhile, to learn to read music, and she could give me some tips. But of course, they’re different.
And shopping through music books and CDs among a hundred songs, looking for something to play, can be tedious to the max. I like it when people choose songs and I follow.
Up to something like 17 videos up on the site now, just added “The Butterfly” and “An Phis Fhliuch” tonight, should be fully processed by YouTube by Tuesday morning.
Its been fun trying to learn to use my DV camera, it has full manual control and a lot of “tweakability”. I think I’ve finally settled on an overall color and exposure setting I like on these last two.
Love the new site, but you’ve just got to add ‘Gravel Walk’ so I can learn to play it like you do!
Neat concept - but I’m on dialup so it takes FOREVER to load anything like this. So far it’s been 10 minutes and I only have about half of the video loaded. Guess I’ll have to wait for the DVD.

Gravel Walk it is! It will be the next tune on the site… Look for it by Thursday morning.

Michael
Hi, gang,
Much to my sorrow I can’t make these tutorials work.
They worked OK originally but for the last two days
they stop about 30 seconds in and the
Watch Again sign comes on.
Is this happening to others? Any idea what I might
do?
Thanks to Eskin for this super resource. I’m
hoping we’ll find a way to make it sticky.
Best wishes, Jim
Hi Jim,
I’m pretty much at the mercy of YouTube, so if it doesn’t work at some time, only thing I can suggest is to try later… ![]()
The other thing you can do is use an FLV downloader website like:
which allows you to download the .flv files directly to your desktop from YouTube, Google Video and other similar sites.
I just posted “Gravel Walk” as requested by Gary.
Cheers,
Michael
Thanks, Michael! ![]()
this looks fantastic! Michael I think it was you who once posted Peadar O’Riada’s Sport (jig) on pipes. I was smitten by your take on that. Would love to hear you do it on flute too.
On our system you have to let the video run through once so that it stops pausing. After that, the audio and video seem to be in sync pretty closely.
Great job!
