I found this tune on the Cherrish the Ladies CD “Threads of Time” and would really like to learn to play it. Does anyone know where I could find the music for it?
Not certain what you’re looking for. Is it “After the Battle of Auighrim”? If so, is this it?

All the Best, Tom

If you don’t find it, let me know and I’ll mail a copy of the sheet music to you.

Tom–
Confusingly enough, “The Battle of Aughrim” and “After the Battle of Aughrim” are completely different tunes.
The former is, I do believe, in the Fiddler’s Fakebook, if you have access to that. Not sure about the latter. (Yeah, I know, we ain’t fiddlers. It still has a good selection of tunes in it. And my wife is a fiddler, so I have a legitimate excuse for having the book in the house!)

Thanks for letting me know. I really had no clue, just went and “googled” it when I saw the original post.
There seems to be a lot of that going around when it comes to ITM, or any folk music, I would imagine.
All the Best, Tom
BTW, she plays them on a Bb whistle. I emailed her and asked.
I ripped the CD onto my hard drive and play it really slow with Win Media Player 9.0 and I learned it by ear. Win MP 9.0 is free on the MS site.
One of my favorite versions of the “Battle of Aughrim” is on Tony MacMahon’s fine CD “MacMahon From Clare” . You’ll need an E-Flat whistle to play along with it. I note that the esteemed Phil O. has already offered the sheet music, which is all to the good.
Lunasa does a fine rendition of “After the Battle of Aughrim” on one of their earlier CD’s. You’ll need an B Flat whistle to play along with that, which, as others have pointed out, is clearly a different tune.
Be well,
Tom D.
Wow, thanks for all the help with this. The tune I was looking for was The Battle of Aughrim. Tansy was right, there are several versions on jc’s ABC tune finder[http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/cgi/abc/findtune?P=the+battle+of+aughrim&F2=find+(wide)&L=100] a really useful site which I was unaware of. However, the Cherish the Ladies version seems to have more going on. I’ll have to get a copy of media player and work on it.[/url]
Not to be confused with as “Not the Battle of Aughrim,” a.k.a. “Return to Fingal.” – http://members.aol.com/kitchengal/giftunes/fingal.gif
The same site does have “Battle of Aughrim” as well.

Toss this in –

– and you can call the set “Return to Fingal’s Cave Afer the Battle of Aughrim”
