Sheet Music for Dunmore Lassies

Would anyone have–or point me in the right direction for–the sheet music for the Dunmore Lassies as played on the Chieftains’ Long Black Veil CD? I was able to pick out decent sized pieces of it while playing along with the CD on a B-Flat whistle. However, at crucial junctions, I could not get away from morphing into The Reel of Mullinavat, a tune I sort of know (ad arguendum, as they say in the law). In order to prevent getting this fine tune down incorectly on the old hard drive between my ears, I would like to get my hands on sheet music that would more or less work with the version on that CD. I went to JC’s ABC Tune Finder, only to be confronted with a ton of settings for the tune, which I guess I could sort through, though I would like to spare my wife and my neighbors that pain.

Thanks,

Tom D.

Hi Tom,

I found it in a couple of spots. I’m not familiar with the Chieftan’s version but you can get the sheet music for it in JC’s ABC Tunefinder. Try Dunmore Lasses and you’ll get more hits, but I believfe it’s the same tune. It’s also in
L.E.'s 121 Irish Session Tunes if you have access to that.

Good Luck,

Butch

Hello Butch:

Good to hear from you. Just my luck, I’ve got L.E.'s Complete Tinwhistle Tutor, which does not have that tune. And, I need to correct my original post–the tune I get it mixed up with is Tiptoe Home, not Reel of Mullinavat. Same confusion, different tune.

Be well,

Tom D.

Hey does this look like what you’re looking for?
http://www.tinwhistler.com/sheet.asp?code=dunmore_lasses
it was on the tinwhistler site, they have a ton of stuff. It’s probably not the same as the chieftans song but it’s close.

Thank You W.F.

I will boot up the old CD and make whatever adjustments appear to be in order. Seems right to me at first glance, but what do I know?

Please check your PM’s when/if convenient.

I just listened to it. It’s pretty much the standard
version, but slower than usual. Nice, actually.
