Lord of the Rings Theme

I’m attempting to find music for the LOTR theme, my search skills must be seriously lacking because I can’t find it. maybe one of you lovely people could help me out. There are virtual cookies (now with twice the chocolet chips of other brands) involved for results

Have you ran a search? I hated it when I first came here and people said that to me, but after a couple months, I see why they said it.

Btw, cookies are Satan’s spawn. You can keep them.

I’ve been seraching for the past 15 minutes, and am continuing my search. I’m not up on my penny whistle music sites eather so this is a long task for me. Suggestinos for sites to look for are good too. virtual crackers will be given out for those.

I’ve never heard the song so I don’t have links or music sites to it or I’d give them to you. The song has a name, I think, but I don’t know it.

this site has a link to a clip of the piece. as far as i can tell it has no name besides the LOTR theme.

Are you talking about the song that plays during the scene in the Shire of The Fellowship of the Ring? The one which is listed as Concerning Hobbits on the Soundtrack? (It sounds like a beautiful slow air)

I’m not entirely sure, I’m having quite the frustrating night. Its the one that is a slow air, and almost definitely penny whistle. I’ve currently given up until I can get the movie and watch and listen again.

It has a different name on the sheet music (I can’t remember what it was called…I just happened across it in a music store, and perused it long enough to verify that it IS the main musical theme and, interestingly enough, that it starts in D (I also memorized the first several measures). It also had words (in Elvish, if I remember correctly).

If you go to just about any store that sells sheet music, you should be able to find it…it’s basically a “Lord of the Rings” songbook. I very nearly bought it, but cash was a bit tight at the time.

It’s also a very easy tune to pick out by ear.

Redwolf

It’s also a very easy tune to pick out by ear.

I feel like I should add ‘if you can’ to that statement.

I think it’s been verified by someone here that it was actually a recorder in the movie. It’s quite playable on the whistle, however.

Redwolf

shhhh, if i dont listen then its not true. i just want to pretend its a whistle, since we all know that they are vastly supirior.

Here’s a link to the songbook I saw at the music store:

Redwolf

Great, y’all, I just manage to stop listening obsessively to the Two Towers soundtrack and someone mentions ‘whistle’. Now I have to go through TTT and FotR again with new ears! Gah!

The whistley bit in Fellowship of the Ring is definitely “Concerning Hobbits” although I’ll add something here if I find any other parts while I relisten. Couldn’t find anything via Google sheet-music-wise, but BigEvilGrape - I can email you the track as an MP3 if you can work it out by ear. It’s about 2.7MB.

Turns out the actual name of the song (not just the snatch of theme played in the movie) is “The Prophecy.” The music and the words are available in the songbook I linked to at Amazon.com. Whether the music is also available on-line, I have no idea, but I doubt it, as it’s copyrighted.

I’m planning on picking up the book next time I’m at the music store. I remember that the song starts out in D, but modulates to a more problematic key…still, it’s probably adaptable.

Redwolf

Nice one, Redwolf! “The Prophecy” gets reprised in “The Breaking Of The Fellowship” which is also where the whistley parts come in.

So my previous answer was fairly tangental - sorry, BigEvilGrapeyOne. And I can’t offer to send that latter one out 'cos it’s too big to send through my email, and I don’t want to get black looks from people for copyright infringement.

However on the plus side, here’s more analysis of that track than you can shake a whistle at, or possibly this [needs a free plugin thing] version of “In Dreams” might be useful. (“In Dreams” being a part of the aforementioned ‘Breaking…’)

Good luck with it!

PS. Whistle also at the start of the piece “The Black Rider” but only briefly. Haven’t started on TTT yet.

Has anyone mentioned yet that it’s a frickin’ recorder, and not a whistle? (Where is Chris L when you need him? )

This is a sample of someone playing this tune on his whistle. It may help you to play the tune.

Good luck!

Has anyone mentioned yet that it’s a frickin’ recorder, and not a whistle?

That means I never actually have to hear it then. One less thing to do in life. If these speakers would work normally life would be so much easier.

Yes. In Chris L’s absence, I dutifully performed that service.

Redwolf

Yeah…great! I can sympathize with ya, Cori. Now I’M going to have to break out my copy and listen to it all again. ahhh, such is the life of a whistler.

[revision]

Well…now that I’ve been reminded about the r******r issue, maybe I don’t have to be too hasty about dragging the album out again.
