Are there any Irish music pubs in the Triad of NC? Where can I find a session around Winston-Salem/Greensboro/High Point?
There is a session in Raleigh at the Hibernian Pub on Sunday afternoons. The guitar player there told me that there is one in Greensboro, but I don’t know where.
Thanks! I work in G’boro so that one would be better, if I can locate it!
Here are a couple of places in Gbo which, according to web sources, have hosted Irish sessions at one time or another.
The Irish Pub. 104 N. Westgate. 336-855-0790. (Wednesdays?) This is probably the best bet. In Dale’s interview, L. E. McCullough mentions having played here.
The Blind Tiger. Walker Ave. 336-272-9888. (Last Sunday of each month?) This doesn’t sound like my kind of pub, but who knows?
This is great news, now the next time I visit my daughter and her husband in Greensboro, we will have a great place to go for entertainment.

What a small world this is! I have a greeting for you from my Son-in-law Matt Yates. He said to tell you Hello. I spoke to him this morning on the phone since school has been cancelled due to your snow down there. He is home today instead of teaching middle school band in Lexington. Matt speaks highly of you. Also, My daughter Angie is preparing your future music students at Northeast. She is the new elementary music teacher at Brightwood.
Maybe we will see you at a session on our next visit to NC

A small world indeed! Matt was one of the best band teachers that I’ve ever worked with! Since he’s still young in his profession, I can only imagine where he’ll wind up! I miss him very much at my school. I considered it a great loss when he made the switch to Lexington. I hope your daughter likes Brightwood. It’s a great community and school. I’m looking forward to meeting her and you sometime!
