I’m ready to add to the collection and I think a low F whistle would be just the thing. I’m posting to find out if anyone has such a whistle they would be willing to part with. My budget is probably less than $200 dollars…but I could offer an assortment of cheapie whistles in partial trade if someone is interested.
I’m also open to suggestions on new ones. I’d like to find a low F with a full bottom end and not too breathy sounding.
If anyone is interested in the collection of cheapies I’ll be more than happy to post it…perhaps someone would like to buy them.
You could certainly spend more, but I think the Hoover low F has a great sound. I did not see an example on Mack’s web page, but there are several tunes on this page that use a Hoover F: http://www.silbealabanza.com.
I do own of these, but with my poor recording equipment, I don’t think it would even sound like a whistle.
I had and sold an Alba low F, which was also a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, I probably wasn’t ready for it at that point, and was starting on flute. Henke has called it (the Alba F, not mine) his favorite whistle, if I’m not mistaken!
Thanks for posting the link to the GFM review. Somehow I missed it before. I was able to review the high D whistle in an early tour and was very impressed with the workmanship and sound. Was very temped to buy it, but I already had D whistles with a very similar sound.
It’s good to see more keys in the line. Nice review too!
I’ll be putting up more reviews as my collection grows. Chuck’s just sent me some soprano whistles in Delrin, so I’m looking forward to getting that in the post. Also got a SYN Bb on the way, and Daniel Bingamon’s making me a Low Bb in copper. Busy summer
Well…someone has offered a Burke Low F for sale and I told him I’ll buy it. All it took was one listen on the Burke site to sell me! I hope I got to him first..lol! Thanks for all the suggestions…I love this place!
