I also posted these in the ‘correct’ places (city guides and teachers) but in case anyone doesn’t look in the special notice boards, I’ve two questions:
we’ll be passing through Galway city on Sunday and Monday this weekend, any suggestions?
still looking for a good (traditional, ITM) teacher of (wooden) flute, around Leeds (UK), or within a reasonable drive. No disrespect to all those lovely people who play Boehm or (like me) came to ITM late in the day but what I really need is help with the traditional foundation to my repertoire and a keen eye on my keyless flute technique.
thanks David, it’s the right suggestion of course but complicated because there isn’t a flute teacher just now - both Brian(?) and Rachel dropped away due to family commitments and CCE are trying to find someone new for the Tuesday open group and kids classes in September. If anyone fancies volunteering for that…
Might try to tempt Rachel into private lesson, otherwise it’ll be further afield. Dee Havlin is up the road but I don’t think she’s teaching (flute lessons) at the moment either. Might be Manchester at this rate.
Good luck with getting a teacher. Sorry that your local branch has no teacher, will they get one in from a neighbouring branch? - that is what would happen here.
Sinead from Bradford isn’t out and about either with the baby but I’m sure someone will turn up for them. Not so much of a problem for me, I’m mobile and can always make progress with personal practice, good pub session here, regular family trips to Ireland, and the odd summer school (and having the 30+ years of learning other instruments to fall back on). More of an issue for the kids really so I hope they find someone. I guess it’s never that easy to get weekly commitment for the classes from good teachers across all the instruments when they’re not paid. It’s just a blessing that they do
