I don’t think you should be leaving this forum.
“THAT” topic went off at an extreme tangent but my experience of this board has been otherwise good.
You, Liam, and any others who got het up this time should all reflect, calm and come back…the board is the better for lively debate

Zukul,
most of the members of this forum did’nt get involved. The forum is like life in general, you’ll find people you like and some you don’t, leaving the planet is’nt the answer. As in life simply avoid those who annoy you.
I wish you well for the future, whatever you decide.
Mac.
The really nice thing about this particular forum is that it isn’t a mailing list, so if you find that things have gone silly you only have to drop out and wait a bit–shame more people didn’t do that this last time round. I myself quit the listserv uilleann list (which shares many members in common with this board) precisely because these little skirmishes broke out almost weekly and you had to clean your mailbox of their hubris whether you were involved or not. You will not find any human forum open to all that does not manifest the full range of human idiosyncracy, in wonderful and awful forms. Stay on, kiss and make up (without lawyers, please).

Hello List:
Normally I’m just a voyeur on the list, and being a beginner, I think that’s the best way to learn. I do ask questons occasionaly, even though they may be trivial to most, and list members seem to be more than happy to help. But I’ve noticed that people are really quick to critisize. Not surprising considering how impersonal internet forums can be. Even though, statements here can still effect others. I am a perfectionist and love the Irish pipes. One day in the near future I hope to craft quality pipes, not for the money, but because I do love this instrument and am a tinkerer by nature. But I am beginning to wonder if I will ever survive this list once I make my first set.
My grandfather was a simple man and had more integrity than a room full of people. One lesson he taught me that I live by is “Only a fool forms his opinion a man from another mans opinion.”
Zukul,
I joined this forum barely 3 months ago and have gotten more information on pipes than anywhere else… met some amazing people, several who are now my friends, and am even getting my chanter from a member. Zukul, you just cannot form your opinions so quickly, and with such negativity. This is a very intense group and quite friendly… probably one of the most reserved as well. It is unfortunate that you happened on it when Uilliam was having a bad day… Uilliam could be a real pain in the butt, but he often had informed things to say.
My advice to you is to settle down and ask more questions. You will get answers.

Let me also add that if you’re not interested in criticism, then the only pipes you should make should be for yourself.

Constructive criticism is welcome.
