Has anyone learned tunes from Youtube in the past? I had picked up a couple and thought there used to be loads on there, but for some reason they seem to have disappeared. Does anyone have a link or know where these vids have gone?
Hi Franco
Is this what you are looking for?
http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=tradschool&sitesearch=#
or this?

Check where the clips are hosted before clicking on them. The ones hosted on clevver.com doesn’t work, you only end up with a pageful of php error messages when those are clicked… ![]()

I bought videoget http://nuclear-coffee.com/php/products.php
It’s a tool that allows you to download and convert clips on youtube, google, guba,…
You can also use amazing slowdowner to slow these clips down in audio.
i also use video get great wee program
Thanks Bigdavy, it was the second link you put there for Tradschool. I spent 15 minutes searching for that the other day and couldn’t find it.
I use http://www.zamzar.com/
It’s free or you can sign up for a premium service. You install a plug-in for your browser and when you’re on a site with a video like youtube you just click “convert with zamzar” which brings you to their site with all the details filled in, you just enter what format you want the video in and enter your email address. It then emails you a link where to download your converted file. Nice and simple and free.
Also, for those of you who use Firefox there’s an extension called Download Helper http://www.downloadhelper.net/ that can be used to download video and audio clips in the same way as the sites previously described. It works really well and of course it’s free. I use it on a regular basis when downloading clips from YouTube.

I don’t think that converts the files though. or does it? I didn’t see conversion mentioned there. Like with Zamzar you can choose the format you want, I just got it to send me some youtube videos in .3gp format to stick on to my Girlfriends phone. Normally I choose mpg which are easily played on most dvd players.
No, it doesn’t but VLC which also is free http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ can be used to view and convert the files.

For learning purposes, I’m not much bothered about the video. I just record the songs/tunes using Audacity and then put them on to a CD for playing back in the car.

I use BienneSoft](http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/%22%3EBienneSoft) YouTube Downloader.
Works great, and it’s free.
I use a FireFox plugin called “UnPlug” to grab .flv files from YouTube and other sites. I then use a free program called “Super” to convert from .flv to .mp4 for my iPods.
Hi eskin
If you upgrade to Firefox 3, unplug doesn’t work with it as yet.
Video download helper does a similar job and works with Firefox 3

Thanks for that info on the Firefox 3 plug-in compatibility! I’ve only yesterday started upgrading to the new beta 2 on several systems, but not my primary authoring system.
