On my Macbook, i can drag any of the tunes from my itunes library in to quicktime player, and using the A/V controls i am able to slow down the tune/song making it easier to learn. Obviously i can only do this if the sound file is on my computer.
You tube is a great way to hear new tunes. Is it possible to download a sound/video file from you tube to my computer? If i am able to do this, i can then drag the sound file into Quicktime player and then slow it down if need be
You copy that URL, go to http://vixy.net/ and
past the youtube URL into the box labeled URL.
In the drop-down box labeled “Converts to:”,
select “MP3 (audio only)”. Click the Start button.
When it’s done, it should bring up a Save window
where you can select where you want to save
the MP3 file. If not, you may have to click on the
link that says “Download the converted video” to
get the Save window. Once you save the MP3,
you can open it in Quicktime.
BTW, has anyone who’s upgraded to SnowLeapord
noticed the A/V Controls are gone in Quicktime?
Can they be found elsewhere, or has Apple given
us the screwgie?
Here’s another way:
Copy the URL of the youtube video you want to download.
Go to www.zamzar.com. Click URL, and paste in the URL for the video (make sure the http:// is only in there once). in the next blank, tell it what sort of file you want it turned into (I use WMV for movies and MP3 for sound). Enter your email address. Within a couple minutes to a couple hours, you’ll get an email with a link where you can download your video.
Sounds complicated, but it’s incredibly easy once you do it once or twice.
Here. It downloads the video, converts it, and sticks it right into itunes. http://tooble.tv/
It’s a little awkward to search using this program, but if that isn’t working for you, can easily paste in the url from youtube.
I find MPEG Streamclip best for this on Mac OSX - a standalone application that’s very easy to use. None of the online processing involved with some of the other methods mentioned…
This one is so simple, and as you said puts the video straight into itunes. It’s easy to drag the video into quicktime player, and using the A/V controls i can slow down the whole thing. Just what i was looking for!!
Not an answer to your question, but thanks so much for teaching me that I can do this on my Macbook. I just got it this summer and am still figuring it out, but this is really to find out, and will really help with learning by ear. I spent a good hour or two yesterday with The Strayaway Child (much to my wife’s dismay, I’m sure).
