‘…New 6 part traditional Irish music series opening a door to the heart and soul of six musical giants. Paul McGrattan goes west along the roads travelled by the blind flute playing gentleman, Josie McDermott, in search of a deeper understanding of the man behind the music. Matt Molloy, Séamus O’Donnell, Catherine McEvoy, Michael Tubridy and Roger Sherlock will also feature on tonight’s programme…’

Thanks for the tip. It’s a lovely little program with some nice flute playing.

Thanks for the link rama. It’s been a while since I’ve checked out tg4; I would’ve missed this if not for you. Truly appreciated, as I love Josie’s playing and compositions.

I have spent the past weeks digging through this forum’s archives, trying to figure out the do’s and don’ts concerning Irish flutes.

It’s a refreshing perspective, seeing all these Irish music big names tootin’ around on old German flutes and storing their flutes and violins directly above a burning fireplace

Great link, and I was delighted to see an unmentioned / uncredited (?) cameo by Peter Horan, playing “The Laurel Tree” with Matt Molloy.

If anyone has a clever way of downloading these programs, this seemed like a keeper, and I bet the Joe Cooley program will be great as well…

rama thanks !!

Thanks for posting this link. It was a great program.

Hi! Can’t find these recordings.. Can anybody give to me another link?
I must see it!!

Can’t ge tthe hold on it either… Must be the region that is not eligible for watching !
Too bad!

Pascal.

It might be a regions/copyright thing, but I had a quick browse for it the other day and couldn’t find it - I think it is more likely that it was only on the i-player function for a limited time - that tends to be the way of it - programmes on the BBC (and most GB channels) at least are mostly only available for a week after normal broadcast, though some may have an on-line shelf-life (so to speak) of two or even four weeks. You can probably find out what that particular channel’s policy is somewhere on the website…

Thread revival …

This special on Josie McDermott has been uploaded to YouTube since this thread died. There are quite a few ads at the beginning, but you can skip forward to the actual start at around 3 minutes in. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Here is the link

Thank you! Seven years later I finally have it downloaded now…
