Documentary following RTE presenter John Creedon’s attempt to fulfil his ambition of learning to play the flute and to perform at his late father’s birthplace
I’d love to see this, but it won’t be on any television in my part of the world.
Too bad a tech-savvy Irish member of the forum couldn’t record the show and put the recording on his box.net account or something…
You can watch live at www.tg4.tv, or watch it in the archive a few days later (usually)
It was entertaining enough but I wish they had shown more of the teaching process instead of John visiting famous flute players (Matt Molloy, Peter Horan, Hammy Hamilton and Conal O’Grada).
Thanks for the heads up podrisco. I’m so glad I watched this although I agree to an extent with you regarding the amount of time given to the teaching vs. famous people and scenery. It was great to see Hammy’s workshop (do you think yer man gat a free flute out of it?) and a lot of familiar faces at Scoil Acla. Really good programme for any flute enthusiast, whatever skill level.
Anyone know if this programme has an archive and the name to look for?
Kevin
It´s in the archive now.
I can’t seem to find it, can anyone please give me some directions? Or have they deleted it already?
Maybe to find it you need to knock back a Bushmills

I don’t find it either. There’s shows on either side of it tho. Hmmm…
If anyone can provide a direct link it would be much appreciated.

This is a ‘thread-urrection’ but I just found this episode on Youtube and thought it was entertaining and instructive (as a flute & ITM beginner) ![]()

That’s great that it’s on you tube now. I have seen several episodes and some were hilarious, all were interesting. Loved the Jeremy Irons one with him learning the fiddle at Willie week.
