Please only serious replies.
Who would be interested in participating in a project to record a commercial CD?
From my collaborations with Mick Woodruff, I’ve learned that professional quality tunes can be mixed from tracks exchanged via the Internet.
Tony Higgins had a great idea with the International Ceili Band, but there just weren’t enough participants.
How about a similar project, only this time a commercial venture… that should generate more interest.
Understand that I don’t have any grand dreams of worldwide fame and lots of money, but it would be a lot of fun and should sell well enough to pocket a buck or two for the effort.
If enough people express interest, we’ll discuss it more seriously.
I have time and an interest. How would it work with so many Penny Shistlers tho?

Well it won’t work if there isn’t some diversity of instruments, but many of us are not exclusively whistle players.
A vocalist would be a welcome addition as well, but not a necessity.
Ideally, we’d get together just a small group of musicians with the dedication and talent necessary to complete the project… too many participants would be difficult to work with, but better than not having enough.
Perhaps just dipping a toe in the water first would be better? Try one track and see how that goes.
Not that I contribute anything useful besides whistle, unless you think there’s a need for a bassoon. (I can play tunes on it, though they come out like I’m playing a cranky double-low G whistle.)
I’d love to do it, problem is, I’d have to find a station where I could hook up a mic… ![]()
I can play chord Guitar, and a little Fiddle as well as Whistle if you’re interested??
I play guitar!
Hmm.. If this works out, it will be really cool!!
Cool idea!
Not that I know if my skills would be at level but… I have two nice guitars I play a lot on (steel string). I also have proffesional recording gear, allowing for the best possible sound of instruments.
So.. at least I would be interested in doing some strumming and fingerpicking for this project, to see if that what I can do, would fit.
I could do some basic stuff ( hey that´s all I CAN do
) record it, and mail a link to you. Could be done in a couple of weeks or so.

I think someone should pick a tune that they can play well, and record the track, and then post it and everyone send in their
sample to play along. Someone can then put it together and see what we end up with.
But who will start? A guitar, or a whistle?

Hey, I got a big MEAN djembe also ![]()
Just kidding, ceili band was it not some weird new age world music right?

Well, there’s not anywhere near enough diversity of instruments to make a go of the idea yet… perhaps I’d better just scrap it.
Gary,
cmon and hang in there for a while longer.
Something may pop up ![]()
I got a friend that produces music radio commercials. He has lots of instruments and studio gear. El-bass would that fit? Or only traditional instrument, guess so?
