I won!

OK, so I’m bragging…

Tonight, I took overall first place in the open music competition associated with the San Diego Harvest Feis for my whistle solos.

Here’s the link to the recording of the aire I performed, “Taimse mo Codhladh”:

Unfortunately, they were setting up the dance floor for the feis during the music competition, so that’s all the banging and hammering you hear in the background.

I also entered on the flute, here’s the aire “Dark Woman of the Glen”:

Hope you enjoy the tunes!

Cheers,

Michael

Congratulations. That is expeditious!

When I saw your post, methought that you might have outposted Avanutria. (not really, she’s got a pretty solid lead)

Very cool, Michael!! I can’t wait to hear those solos!

btw, Walden, love your quote!

That’s fantastic Michael. I’m tempted to ask if we fipplers know any of the people you bettered but I think I’d better not so I won’t. A shame though. But it’s still fantastic—well done.

Congratulations to you!!! If you lived on the “right” coast I’d buy you a Guinness or two… But you don’t, so this afternoon I’ll have a few Killian’s for both of us!!!

How wonderful for you, I can’t wait to hear the clips either. And I am curious HOW you
get stuff off of a mini-disk and onto the computer, as I need to do that too.
Lolly

Congratulations!!!

Hwyl,
Andrea

Well done!

Congratulations Michael! I even live near enough to have come heard it live. The clip was lovely. LeeAnn in Los Angeles

Nice job, Michael - wish I’d been there to see it live!

Jamey.

PS Bought any more flutes recently?

That’s so exciting!
Congratulations!
I just listened to your solo & was totally mezmorized! It’s so beautiful. Where would I be able to find the sheet music for it & what kind of whistle did you use?
Keep up the good work!
Cindy

Beautiful, Michael.

Congratulations!

Carol

Michael, now I see (hear, actually  ) why you won! Absolutely beautiful!!!

cheers Michael! Enjoy the glow! You deserve a special prize for “Performing Music Under Adversity” because of those chuckleheads moving stuff around. I would have been completely distracted under those conditions (if I’d had the guts to enter in the first place). Great job.

Well done, Michael! Can i just echo Whatzitt, and also ask what instruments from your extensive collection you used? There certainly is some talent on these boards!

Congrats! Nice clips! Thanks!

Very nice indeed, Mr E.
Especially liked the flute piece…good
inspiration for a newbie such as myself.

The whistle is a Copeland brass high-D, the flute is a Terry McGee Rudall-Carte style.
