I won!

Just bragging a bit…

Last night, I took overall first place in the open music competition associated with the San Diego Harvest Feis for my whistle solos.

Here’s the link to the recording of the aire I performed, “Taimse mo Codhladh”:

Unfortunately, they were setting up the dance floor for the feis during the music competition, so that’s all the banging and hammering you hear in the background.

I also entered on the flute, here’s the aire “Dark Woman of the Glen”:

Michael,

Those are lovely!

It is no surprise that you won on whistle–you must have had some really fierce competition not to have taken the flute prize as well.

Curiosity: what flute and what whistle were these?

Thanks for sharing these!

Hi James,

Glad you enjoyed the recordings!

The whistle is a Copeland Brass D, the flute is a Terry McGee Rudall-Carte.

It was a pretty small local type of event, not enough participants to have a competition for each instrument, so they just had an open competition between all the players.

Michael

eskin - Congratulations! Nice work there.
