I’m a pretty new whistler here, and I was inspired to learn the whistle after hearing Eamonn Dillon at a concert. I don’t seem to hear his name much, so I am guessing many of you may not have heard of him. Eamonn came from Belfast about 9 years ago and lives in Florida. Apparently Canadian/Scottish/Irish tenor John McDermott heard him playing in a pub and invited him to join his band.
Eamonn plays the Uillean pipes and the whistles. He has a wonderful Cd called ‘Storm the Kettle’.
Last week I met Eamonn again and I asked him to sign my whistle (thinking that maybe some of the musical magic would rub off…or ‘on’ in this case. He not only signed it, he played it a bit (I have a Harper) and he said “Ahhh, she’s a sweet one!” He also gave me a few demonstrations. He is a truly delightful person and I hope he soon becomes well known.
Lizzie…self appointed promoter of Eamonn!

Oh Yeah, Eamonn’s CD Storm the Kettle rocks! It’s not entirely trad in terms of instrumentation and arrangement, but the tunes are trad and his U-Pipe and whistle playing are grand. Great CD.
Eamonn Dillon ??
He’s like the Eddie Van Halen of pipers… and just happens to live about 20 miles from me. Awesome talent, great person to know, too bad he spends so much time on the road. Here’s a picture of him playing whistle at a pub in Fort Lauderdale where he often performs.

Mark, I just spray laquered the signature…I can’t afford to retire my first good whistle! Especially since “she is so sweet”.
Tony, thanks SO much for posting the pic. Eammon looks very summery there.
Lucky you to have the chance to hear him often. Actually he left the tour on Sunday and was flying home Monday. If you see him again in the pub, please tell him Liz in Toronto says HI! He says he hopes to get to Toronto soon.
Have either of you heard anything from Eamonn about a new CD? About a year ago he told me a Whistle CD was in the works. Haven’t heard anything about it since.
Also, seems his website isn’t working at the moment…
When Eamonn’s not on the road performing, he does local gigs and books music lessons, so it’s hard to catch him idle. He indicated he would be on this tour for 3-4 months, with only one short break… probably this week as indicated in Lizzie’s post. I tried to contact him 2 weeks ago about the website. I suspect it’s something that would have to wait until he got back into town to deal with.
Lizzie, I’ll pass your message should I see him.
Lizzie,
It looks like you linked the image to your desktop computer. Unless you’re always online to the internet via network, DSL, or some other addressable source of access, we won’t be able to see the image.
You need to have a website or home page where you can upload the file than link it to that location.
Lizzie… if you want, send me the picture and I will post it to my website. Then change the link in your message and the picture will appear for all to see ! tony@gate.net

Tony, thanks so much for trying to help. I do have a website, and I put the picture there, and thought I had linked everything OK. I put a link from the picture to this site, and then on this site I put a link to the picture as indicated on the instructions. Not sure where I fouled up.
