Photo link- our band

We’re playing at the San Francisco Free Folk Festival on June 16. They have a web site and there’s a picture of us we sent in on their bio page. We’re Tinker’s Damn. For those lacking a sense of the obvious, I’m the one playing a whistle.

We were playing at a school fair where my daughter just finished 8th grade. She was sitting right up front with her friends. I always play Six Penny Money at home to annoy her, so when the guitar player was switching to his mandolin, I took the quick opportunity to play her favorite jig for her.

Hey Tony-- nice to have a face to connect with your name! What’s the whistle you’re playing? Looks sorta Abell-ish.

Hi Tony,
I saw a band called Tinkers Damn at the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Festival last year or the year before was that you by chance?

Ron,
Did they sound fantastic? Yes? Wasn’t us. We’ve never played outside the San Francisco Bay Area. We’ve only been together for a few months. 4/5 of us knew each other from our session group.

About that other Tinkers Damn. Looks like we’ll have to take them out. (For drinks, not kill them.)

By the way, I didn’t write the blurb by the photo. Calling myself whistler extrordinaire? I’d have used more complimentary terms.
Tony

Your mando player needs a hat…

I, too, wondered about the whistle you were playing… hey maybe this will start a new thread to rival the “What whistle does A----- C— play?”

He’ll just have to learn the hard way. I don’t care to make the suggestion.

About the whistle: Sorry, I thought it was obvious. It is to me. I’m playing an Abell high D in blackwood. There are plenty of tunes posted on Clips with it.

Thanks for the great pics Tony. Philo

Why Tony, you handsome rascal!

You’ve got some serious face-shrubbery going there!

Vinny

Thanks for the pics, Tony, it’s always nice to put together a name and a face!

I should add, in light of previous comments, and the fact that I’m wearing a hat, that I do actually have hair on my head.

I would like to thank Tony for posting the event of “San Francisco Free Folk Festival” on June 15th and 16th. I attended the festival for two days, this is the first time in my life to attend this kind of festival and I enjoyed very, very much the time I spent in the festival. During the open music on June 16th, I played tremolo harmonica on stage. I wish I could play tin whistle, but I don’t have enough confidence to play tin whistle in public yet. I played two beautiful Chinese Folk Songs and “The Last Rose of Summer”. Most people in the festival had experiences about harmonica on “blue”. They were surprised that harmonica can also play other melodies, slow and full of feelings. I was very, very happy to watch Tony and his band to play Celtic music. They are great and professional. This is the first time I met Tony and his family. Tony is a very kind and gentle person, he has a very lovely family. Tony also taught me several ornaments that I would like to learn for a while.

I would appreciate if anyone will post future SF Bay Area music festival, which is similar to the one I attended a week ago, on the message.

Tony-
The pics are great.
I’m just curious…do you know anyone named Lori Harrison?
