We played to a small, but enthusiastic audience (mostly friends, very few enemies). I’ll get a tune up. I recorded the set on minidisc directly from the sound mixing box. The bodhran player was the sound engineer. Lot of fun. Blackhawk was there. He wasn’t scowling.

Looks like fun, Tony. The first photo of you had me squinting to see what kind of odd low whistle you were playing there, until I realized that the whistle is in line with the mic stand, making them appear as one.
Looking forward to hearing a clip,
Jef
Argh, double post that I caught too late!
Boy, Tim Hart has gained a few pounds and lost some hair since his Steeleye Span days, but looks damn good for a man of 60. What’s that he’s playing – a Bleazey or Swayne?
Bleazy or Swain? No idea. I thought it was a recorder. I’ll ask him. We’re back at the Games today for a repeat performance. I’m going to ask Tim if he’d like to do a duet with us. He knows his stuff. His playing style is a lot different than mine; could be interesting. I recorded our performance on minidisc connected directly to the sound board. I’ll get something onto the computer. Of course, we played a bit faster than intended out of nervousness.

If this was at Dunsmuir yesterday, then I am really amazed. We were there all day and I never even saw ya! I saw the SlowPlayers in their tent and the dulcimer guy…
It has become a more crowded event tho… Dang, Tony. I thought you were playing at Pleasanton games in September, not this one.
Great photos Tony! (and heyyy THAT shirt is just COSMIC ).
I may be wrong, but it could be a Swayne that Tim Hart is playing-that bore is too conical to be a Bleazey,to my eye.
Beautiful Tony; thanks for sharing. We spent our honeymoon there 20 years ago and the Highlands is the most beautiful place I’ve seen.

No, I surely wasn’t! The only thing I’d have scowled about was that the set didn’t go for three hours. It was over all too soon. I thoroughly enjoyed it, Tony.
I was at the games, too, on Sunday, and I didn’t see any whistlers I know… Although I saw the last band, whose name I can’t recall, but I didn’t know their whistler/bagpiper.
I’m glad I stayed for the closing ceremonies. The sound of four bagpipe bands playing Amazing Grace was…well…amazing.
Phil, I’m not sure if you’re pulling my leg, but these Highland Games were not in Scotland, they were in Oakland, Calif.
Kar, I wasn’t on that big stage near the house. We were down the path past the vendors. A much smaller, more intimate venue. There were a lot of friends in the audience (who played on stage- we know each other from our session). There was a lot of joking back and forth with the audience. My partner, Peter, was babysitting his 6yr old who was prancing around on the stage while we were playing. My 17yr old son took the stage pictures on Sunday.
