Oh excitement! My Hoover arrived today and can I say my roommates are thrilled- the whistle I always used to use to practace was a Susato, which, well the whole apartment house could hear me playing, but today as I first tried out my Hoover narrow bore, my rommate’s boyfriend said to me “wow that is quiet.”
Anyway its a great whistle- I have to get used to the breath control however because i am used to having to blow a lot harder. But it is so soft and sweet I really really like it… it is just gonna take me some time to adjust to playing it.
Also its really a pretty whistle- just shiny brass- very tiny looking- (perhaps because its skinnier then my other whistles). SO much excitement- oh and I got an e-mail today that my Elfsong is ready and will be mailed off to me today. Yea! Yea! I am soooo excited!
I have a Hoover narrow bore brass D tabor pipe. The narrow bore Hoovers are indeed a thing of beauty, not only soundwise, but appearancewise. They would look great on a Christmas card!
Ah, 'tis a lovely little thing, is it not? Wait until you want to play late at night - you can do so without risking the ire of, or even waking up, those in the same room.
I have both the regular and narrow bores, and love both. The narrow bore saw a good deal of use at my father-in-law’s house recently. I was able to play without fear of disturbing him, or anyone else in the house (he was very ill). And I love it for playing at home late at night.
I do have clogging problems with it, though, much moreso than with the regular bore. That’s to be expected, I guess.
