Hoover wanted!

I’ve been drooling for one for a long time, and now when I’m close to going off to college, the need for a quiet whistle is of the utmost importance. I know how much everyone loves theirs, but if for some strange reason anyone has been wanting to part with theirs, please let me know!
Also, a few questions: is there a huge difference in volume between the regular-bore and the narrow-bore? I’ve heard that moisture builds up more quickly in the narrow-bore, and that it is harder to control, but the quieter the better. Also, how do the Whitecaps and CPVC’s compare with the standard brass model? Thanks!

Sent you a PM, if you’re still looking. . .

Yeah, you’re going to have to do less drooling if you want to play a Hoover.

Hardy-har-har. :stuck_out_tongue: Herb, I sent you a PM back.

Soineanta I read your heatfelt plea, and decided that I could do without my Hoover…Here she is my pride and joy:

Hey Turner,

Is that a Dyson? The Rolls-Royce of Hoovers!

What we Englishmen know about hoovering, you could write on the back of a postage stamp…

I did some once, but I wasn’t thrilled.

That Martin my friend is a Dyson. And after my last payment next month, I will officially own my very Own Rolls Royce of Hoovers.

I polish her once a week, and empty the little rubbish tray daily.

Wow… You guys floor me! And I thought I had a vacuuming fixation… Since you take in air as opposed to blowing it out, could a vacuuming fetish be considered a reverse of whistling?
I think I need more coffee… [/i]

I may be wrong, but I think the Hoover in question is the Hoover Whistle.

Hoover Power Whistle

No no I dont find this strange pthouron, i think I have the Equivilant to WHoa only in the Domestic appliance field. I find myself always wanting the best avaliable Hoover and Iron!!

The Dyson pictured is the same as I have at home, and will suck up anything in its path, i have to be really carefull, especially when my 9 month old daughter is crawling aound the place :astonished:

And i could shop around all day looking for a new Iron! I often find myself in Electircal shops just browsing around looking at the irons. The customer services guys always give a funny look when they say, “Can I help” and you reply “No No Iam just looking at the Irons thanks”!!! :boggle:

i belive that being in the Army gave me this affliction, as I always wanted the best iron there, so i could easily Iron my uniform!! maybe i should Sue the MOD sometime, or make them pay for this expensive habit of mine

OK, OK… I have to blame my mom (I know, I know, so soon after Mother’s Day, too). For example: when I got to the Army (for the Selective Service in France), I was the ONLY one who already knew how to make a bed Army regulation style, which did NOT make me too popular with my bunkmates!.. To this day, my wife still laughs at me for pressing and folding underwear (but what does she know, she’s an American!..)

My god theres another person who irons his undies!! i do that too, I also still Iron creases down my shirt sleeve…and if am not concentrating properly when iam ironing I iron a crease over the back too, (like we had to on Army Shirts!!) I need professional help!!! :boggle:

(PS If any chiffers need any professional ironing done iam very cheap!)

Hey pthouron maybe we could open a professional ironing service, branches in the US and UK

Where is the picture of Brian Lee and Wyobadger playing a session on their home appliances? That’s a killer!!

Avanutria, we need you!

I know a lady who can go you one on that! She used to be my in-laws’ maid when they lived in Colombia, and I swear, she ironed my panty hose! I’ll never forget my shock at opening the drawer and finding those neatly pressed L’Eggs sitting there!

Just to derail this thread a bit more…

My mom has a Rowenta iron with a stainless steel plate that is a dream to use. Made my black and decker seem like a small step up from a warm rock. There are a large number of models of Rowentas but if you get one with the stainless steel plate and steam you should have all the iron you need. I borrowed it when visiting once to iron a shirt and ended up ironing everything I brought with me and some of my dad’s shirts, effortless is the word that came to mind.

And as an on topic bit…

I’ve got a tunable Hoover in cPVC that I love. Great sound and playability but definitely not on the quiet side. I traded Mack for one of my whistle designs so it may not be a standard model. I played a friends brass model and it required so little air I had a hard time playing it (I’m a hard blower due to playing quenas) but it had a very sweet, quiet sound that would be perfect for a dorm room or apartment dweller.

I know this Iron, and it is a absolute dream to use…I had one my self, with the picture of a little Dolphin on the side. But to my Horror I dropped it on the floor!!! Burning the Carpet, and damageing my wonderful Iron!! I had to have counselling after that for a while!!! :boggle:

PS..Mark, you got me really excieted when i started reading ur 2nd paragraph, I thought Tuneable Hoover MY GOD why havent i got one!!! Then i realised that you were back on Subject again!!!

I moved into my house about four years ago and just came across my iron a couple of weeks ago. I had completely forgotten I had one. If I have something that needs ironing, I either don’t wear it or I wear it wrinkled. I refuse to iron. Life is way to short to obsess over wrinkles. I’d rather obsess over whistles.

Sheesh. Turn your back for one second and your perfectly normal thread goes haywire. Ironing undies indeed.
 I love you guys!
