Anybody have this CD? Know where to get it? Anbody one of the featured performers?
I do. I am disappointed about the sound-quality, though. The dutch pipers´ homepage
says that a few copys might be left at NPU
I have it and enjoy it. It covers 20 years of the Dutch pipers association and is made of recordings of the great pipers who came to the Dutch tionols over these years. So it’s all rare recordings in fact, for instance, there’s 5 tracks by the late Tommy Reck, plus some by Ronan Browne, Peter Laban, Eugene lambe, Mick OP’Brien, Tommy Keane…
I would highly recommend it, altough the sound quality of the first tracks is not always great, but on the whole, it’s quite ok, especially for this kind of recordings.
You can buy it directly from the Dutch Pipers Club.
To be fair Hans the recordings are in some cases over 20years old and it does say on the sleeve notes "This is not a hi-fi studio CD… and all the performances were live with an audience of 20-30 pipers"Now then the fact that these folks could play at all in front of their critical peers is something in itself and I rather like the naturalness of it all.I say well down all of ye .Peter that Salamanca o yours is good.I mean good considering all the background blether, they wouldna shut up would they. ![]()
ye could try NPU as stated or the Dutch pipers Club I am sure they will help.

No they never would or would pay any sort of attention fo that matter. That was recorded while I was playing a few tunes on my new pipes in a corner while talking to someone, nothing recital like. Apparently Robert stuck a taperecorder on the table.
There was a lot more and much better material of tommy Reck but that was recorded when we took Tommy to a house after the tionol and kept him playing for two days. It was deemed not ‘offical’ tionol material and was dismissed as such. Such is life.
