One of the gems from the SE Tionol weekend was an introduction to the CD “Humours of Holland” and a recording that Mick O’Brien had us listen to of Tommy Reck playing King of the Clans followed by the Donegal Reel and The Fermoy Lasses. Great stuff, easy going and a joy to listen to. Felt I had to do it, so I ordered and just received the full CD this week of “Humours of Holland” and it is really just filled with great tasty piping from lots of Tommy’s (Reck, Keane, McCarthy) and loads of other great pipers. It is a CD that was made from the first 20 years of Dutch Tionols. There’s a setting of Brother Gildas’ Jig that is to absolutely die for, and same with Maguire’s March. I know I’m late in the game as this CD came out a few years back, but it is quite good!
NPU still has copies. I read somewhere that the sound quality is not so good, but I haven’t found it to be distracting at all… it felt like I was there…
Great stuff!
