Where can I get a copy of this CD? There’s nothing on the NPU website about it. I’ve tried a few other sources (ossian, amazon, etc.) and no luck.
I just want you to be aware of how rough this recording is. I bought this on cassette tape twenty years ago and would have returned it if I could. This was recorded when the recording technology was new and time has taken its toll on these cylinders. You’ll be listening to the oldest type of recording that there is. Its very scratchy, volume fluctuates, some tunes are just unlistenable. For documenting his style, this will serve that purpose. I’m just making you aware of what you wil be getting so that you won’t be surprised by the poor quality.
I have both the tape and the re-issue on CD. The CD is much more listenable, plus it has some additional tracks.
PJ, The Piping of Patsy Tuohey CD was published by NPU. If you can’t see it on their web site, I would write them directly to enquire. It may be they are between pressings.

There are some of the clearer tracks taken from old 78’s rather than wax cylinders on Ross Andersons site available here - they will give you an idea of what to expect

I have the CD and it is certainly an improvement on the tape as well as the the book “Piping of Patsy Touhey”.

Did you know that Real Player™ uses the same technology as the old cylinders?
You can achieve the same effect by plugging a garden hose into your bag while playing.
