I’m only just beginning to read about Patsey Touhey. I’ve even heard a few recordings which were posted (uilleannobsession??). I’m amazed. His style was quite fluid and still lightning fast. There’s currently a book on eBay - the Piping of Patsey Touhey. Has anyone read it and is it worth buying.
I’d also be interested in any good links to sites about Touhey.
The Patsy Tuohey book is from NPU - Pat Mitchell and Jackie Small. NPU also has a tape of various cylinder recordings by Tuohey, who bought a wax cylinder machine and would record and mail you any tune you could name - before the internet even.
Personally, I cannot listen to these recordings for more than a few minutes at a time. They make my head ache. I have no idea how someone could go over and over them enough to transcribe the tunes, let alone work out the techniques involved. If you like the Tuohey recordings you have heard so far, I can’t imagine you not getting the NPU book and tape.

I had a copy of the NPU Touhy book a few years ago.
I have to admit it wasn’t my favourite publication. If you don’t have the Clancy or Ennis books, get them first.
Maybe you have seen this, but a fellow Chiffer Ross has a good selection of old piping recordings on his web page.
