Houston Flute Summit - Episode II: Attack of the Wilkes

Sorry, it was the best I could come up with on the fly.

I’m coming back to Houston on Sunday night, December the 18th, and returning to Los Angeles on Saturday, January 7th. What are all you Houstonites (Stu, Larry, Eddie, Mary, whoever else) up to? I’ve already talked to Mary about it - anyone else up for some crazy flute action? Let me know what’s happenin - I’ll bring the Tostitos!

Benny J

Bump, before it goes too far down the list!

Sorry I’ll miss you.

I’ll be in Houston Dec. 7 and 8. Will the usual session be at the Mucky Duck the night of the 7th? I’ve made some flutes and would like to show them off.

– Don

According to the Duck calendar, there’s a band playing the night of the 7th. Sorry we’ll miss you! Do you have a website?

Ben

Hey Ben, hopefully we can get a little group together.

If my house is not do-able, we could gather at ye olde Starbucks…

p.s. I love Tostitos!

M

If you’re coming the 18th, do you want me to ship the flute to you, or just give it to you? (A Secret Coded Message for Ben)

I’m game to try another flute summit. They’ve hired someone else, FINALLY, after 18 MONTHS, so I am NO LONGER THE BOTTOM OF THE TOTEM POLE! Whoo-HOOOOOOOOO!

Which means, there’s more-than-a-snowball’s-chance that I could get together.

Stuart

SWEEEEET!

I’m gonna be in town a good long while too, so the possibilities are endless!

By the way, speaking of Tostitos, I’ve recently gotten onto a MAJOR Trader Joe’s kick - do you guys know about this place? If you don’t, it’s an AMAZING grocery store based here in SoCal - it’s kinda like Whole Foods, except cheap! They have their own brand for most products that vary from the basic to the exotic - absolutely unbelievable. I bought some of their BAKED blue corn tortilla chips and some of their hot salsa autentica yesterday, and it’s some of the best I’ve ever had!! Amazing!! Sorry, I get excited about chips & salsa because I believe it to be its own food group. ANYways, just thought I’d share. Hope we can get together!

B

Same here; I could live off of the stuff.

Just flew in from D.C. and boy are my arms tired.

I should be in town all of December. Going to be a bit busy on the 3rd for the office Christmas party, but otherwise should be able to make it.

Hey Eddie! Glad you’ll be able to join us! Love your new avatar and signature, by the way.

Say, how about them Seahawks!!!

M

I’m just waiting for you to realize that LA is just SoCal Galveston.

Actually, Whole Foods :: Trader Vic’s as Galveston :: LA.

Stuart

Mkay,

  1. Trader Vic’s? What’s that?

  2. There is no beach in Galveston.

  3. There are no movie studios or record companies in Galveston.

  4. There is no cheap place to live in L.A.

    I could go on.

B

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic’s.

His hair was perfect.

Hey good one!

And yeah, I was wondering about the cheap living accomodations in LA :astonished:

M

Trader Joe. Vic, Joe, tomato, tomato.

Who is Trader Vic. Hmm. I wonder.

And I think it’s a good thing there aren’t movie studios or record companies in Galveston.

Stuart

I am so confused right now…

In Corpus Christi, otoh, we have beaches, a record company, Sun Harvest, and inexpensive housing.

What we don’t have is a session.

– Don

Guess I should move to Corpus then. We’ll start a session!

I still don’t get the Trader Vic’s/werewolf/pina colada/perfect hair bit - is there an ‘older people than me’ joke in there somewhere? :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, Eddie, if you’re at the Duck and Larry and Peter Suk are there, would you pass the word along about the Flute Summit? That would be cool.

B

Sure, there’s no session this week but Peter’s doing a gig with Emily Dugas. I don’t know if I’ll be making it or not.
