Help Needed Finding Music For Penny Whistle Desperate

Hello
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I hope someone can help me out here I desperatly need the sheet music for a song called The Lonesome Boatman for my wife to learn to play it has to be in a easy format as she is a total newbie to the penny whistle and she loves this bit of music.
Does anyone have a copy of the music or know where we can download it from?
Really need it it the form of sheet music where the music shows what fingers etc cover which holes I am not sure of this makes any sense but I am sure one of you clever people out there will know what we mean.
Many Thanks

Druid, I think you are asking for two things here at least. One is a fingering chart. I don’t have a site at my fingertips but they won’t be hard to find on the net.

The other is the sheet music to Lonesome Boatman. Again this shouldn’t be hard to find with a google search. Now, if I’m not mistaken that’s a low whistle piece that Finbar Furey has been playing since before the reinvention of the low whistle. He had something like a Pakistani bamboo whistle that fell apart and Bernard Overton stepped in a designed what we now know as the low whistle.

I’m not sure what key it’s in or how well it would sound on high whistle. I’m sure I have a version of it somewhere on CD but I don’t have time to check the key right now.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I think that is what I need a finger chart has anyone got any ideas where I can find that.
Also not sure about what instrument it is played on I have heard it played on many things including a flute, penny whistle and panio.

the fingering is in the songbook. http://www.eaglemusicshop.com/books/products/details/index.asp?eagleID=685&SubCatID=56

you can find more tunes here http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/cgi/abc/findtune?P=lonesome+boatman&F2=find+(wide)&L=100
and you can play the midi files with this free programe http://sharewaredirect.tripod.com/karaoke.htm. you can play this programe in any key you like, butdon’t forget to click on easyest.

but it’s easyer in the long run just to slow the tunes down with roni’s slowdowner http://www.ronimusic.com/

Here’s another on-line source: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/2003?PHPSESSID=15a8614421c27828c33b08bbe05de586

I don’t know if this is the song for you, but this site gives you the finger notation in whatever key you want.

Dollar General sells a C TW for a buck. I don’t know the tune.
