Letter to the Editor of the Green County Muskmelon:
The appointment of Ed McMahon to the head of the Federal Reserve may be a reasonable prediction, and given McMahon’s long experience with both complex monetary transactions and mass entertainment, he may well be the man for the job. I personally would look forward to some humor in this department, frankly, and I know his comforting words to the president, “You are correct, Sir!” would get a laugh every time.
However, I am writing on a far more urgent matter. I am appalled that the Green County Muskmelon has failed to mention the nomination of Texas Judge Larry Joe Dougherty for the Supreme Court in the wake of the Miers withdrawal. In this day and age, it is unthinkable that Bush would fail to appoint a woman, and when one of Judge Judy’s caliber is passed over, Americans of all stripes must protest. If ever there were a time for “The Ultimate Truth Machine” that time is now.
