Got me new Andy Faden chanter

Got me new Andy Faden chanter, picked it up last Friday. It’s absolutely fantastic to say the least. Andy learned his craft from Cillian O’Briain and has modelled this chanter on the O’briain mk 7 (I think that’s what he said but contact him for more details). It is made from Shrilankan ebony with brass and a wooden top made from cocobola.

The chanter is light and easy to handle, it has a crisp clear sound and boy can it talk especially with the tight triplets and backstitching etc. It is in tune throughout. I love it  , it sounds pretty much like Ben’s O’Briain chanter which has graced the clips 'n snips page so many times.
Here are som pics:

Just call me smug   :stuck_out_tongue:
This just leaves me with one small problem… I can’t justify having 2 chanters so I might have to sell my other. Don’t get me wrong I like it but I like this one better, if any one is interested then please pm me. It is a Ray Sloan chanter in D with a wooden windway , chanter stop key, c nat key F key and g#key on Ray’s website ( http://www.raysloan.com ) It sells for about £885

Nice chanter. I noticed that top pieces metalparts and timbershape identically same
like my Dunne chanter…O’Briain effect maybe..

oops  Apparantly the top is also made of ebony not cocobola although Andy does use cocobola and other woods.

Congratulations Maw!

Thanks Joseph

congrats! although I can’t imagine why you’re selling your Sloan chanter.
BTW, Ray finished my set . . . the transaction is complete and it will soon be mine!

I might keep it for now

Seeing that they(Faden and dunne ) are so obviously Cillian O,Briain copies I wonder do they have to pay some kind of royalties too Cillian ??

RORY

Absolutely, and every time they are played Cillian gets a licencing fee paid to him. Lot’s of money to be made in this uilleann piping you know

Sarcastic Patrick :astonished:
