I’m not the seller.

A good buy for someone, my C chanter by Kenny sounds lovely   and it looks the part as well

As does this D one

Kenny has just informed me that the final part of my Frankenset is ready

David

sort of odd that on the Ebay listing there’s no photo that shows the entire chanter, or the middle of the chanter at all, only the very top and bottom of the chanter.

I wasn’t able to photograph the whole chanter in detail. I have a really old digital camera. That’s why I photographed it in sections. I just added one of the whole chanter, it’s hard to see much though. eedbjp

No disrespect to you Kenny, but why do makers not give their creation the justice it deserves with great quality pictures? Some makers who are asking up to 8-9K dollars for their sets don’t even own a digital camera.

Probably because they can’t afford one, being pipemakers

It isnae Kenny Mc Nicoll that is selling the chanter(who does have a camera) but EEDBJP so what is the point aboot?
Uilliam

There’s a photo of a similar chanter (the same?) on Ken McNicholl’s homepage:

Ya see!! He has got a nice camera…
Uilliam

What my point was all about ( or “aboot” as you call it Uilliam: in your cleaver attempt to sound Canadian) was that there are still “some” makers that don’t have the capabilty to take great pitures of the pipes they make because they don’t own a quality camera.

So?

You sound like you think every pipe maker needs a website. That simply isn’t the case. Five of the best pipe makers out there don’t have websites (Geoff Wooff, David Quinn, Benedict Koehler, Joe Kennedy, Alain Froment) and certainly don’t need them as they all have long (or closed) waiting lists.

And remember the story from Chris Langan:

“They used to tell a story about some old blind piper… somebody had a new set of pipes, brought it to him for his approval and ‘oh’ he says… ‘lovely outside’ he says ‘I wonder what it’s like inside?’ he meant the bore and all… which was right, it’s a hell of a lot more important.”
— Chris

I don’t recall saying that every pipe maker needs a website or even implying that idea. I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. I simply stated that not all makers have great quality CAMERAS that can capture their work (For the third time). But since you mentioned websites; Pipe makers like Angus, Spillane, Bayley, Hevia, Parrado y Aragon; all of which HAVE websites, do not have clear, detailed pictures of their work. However, makers like Preshaw, Lynch, Haneman, Hunter (Just to name a few); all have fantastic websites with detailed pictures. And you lost me on the Chris Langan part….

I think he means the fittings and detailing choice of wood and all that are nice, but the real stuff happens in the bore and the rest of the guts. i.e., lovely to look at but how’s it sound?

(Boy, would I know about beauty being inside )

Nico! How goes it! I saw your picture a while ago in some Miltown Malbay photos, and here you are. Serendipity! Are you coming to St. Louis this year?

cat.

Hi Cathy

I would say that Kenny’s C chanters are like you - looks good and sounds good too.

Davy,

You’re a gentleman and … well, obviously a man who’s never seen or heard me!

But that’s OK, I won’t complain.

Looks like we have another percussionist piper. The chanter was bought by our own bonequint

David

Yep…we’ll see how it goes! I love the sound of flat sets, and I’ve been soaking in uilleann pipe music for a few years now. I’m not much for the “group sound,” fiddles and accordions and banjos are all right, but the pipes are what really does it for me. The epitome of “nyah.”

Hi BoneQuint

If your chanter sounds as nice as my McNicholl C, then you will enjoy playing it.

Welcome to the ranks of the surlies.
