For purposes of funding my new custom half set, I’m putting this beautiful chanter, bag and bellows up for sale. The chanter has a Cnat key, with a brass top and boxwood mounts. The bag is specifically made for a practice set, that is, not upgradeable, and is a touch on the small side, but still perfectly functional. The bellows are beautifully and sturdily made, comfortable and work great. There are 2 reeds included - a brand-new one made by Michael O’Donovan, and the original I received with the set (purchased a couple months back on eBay) made by David Power and further-tweaked by Michael. Both work fine. The chanter has that classic Rowsome ‘fire’ to it - big holes, loud, up front, built for sheer session/concert hall muscle. I can try and take some pics if anyone’s interested, but in the meantime you can visit Marty’s website at www.unionpipes.co.uk.
$1500, o.b.o., e-mail or PM. Questions welcome, serious inquiries only though, as I’d like to get this set sold soon.
2nd-hand Kirk Lynch chanter in ebony, boxwood and brass with Cnat, F and G# keys. Custom drones in cocobolo and sterling silver with olivewood fittings, black leather bag with silver tacks, and mahogany bellows, by my friend E.J. Jones of Houston, TX. For those not familiar with his work, he’s currently the greatest maker of bellows-blown Scottish smallpipes in the world, and is beginning to build uilleanns as well. The drone design will be based on Lynch/Britton patterning - my set will have the extra A drone with separate switch as well. Check out his website at www.piperjones.com. More later. In the meantime, buy my practice set!!!
