FS: Martin Preshaw D Chanter $1200

Selling a Martin Preshaw D chanter in Ebony, Brass and Boxwood, with a C natural key. Made in 2006 or 2007. I am the second owner, originally purchased by Billy Jackson, the harpist/piper in the Scottish band Ossian. Really nice sounding and playing chanter, very easy to reed with no issues.

This chanter hasn’t been played much lately, so the reed is not at its best. I’ll include three reeds I made for it, but because I am not a professional reed maker, I can’t guarantee you’ll like them/they’ll work in your climate. That being said, all three play reasonably well at the moment, and as I said, this is a very easy chanter to reed.

Thanks for looking!

really enjoyed the slow air before the morning thrush

Thanks John! That was recorded live about a month ago using my dearly beloved Sam Lawrence set with a great older Quinn chanter I’m borrowing from a friend up in Canada. If you listen around the 3:30 mark you’ll hear the A key on the little regulator get stuck. Not so much fun, but would it really be the pipes without the random technical difficulties?

If anybody in the Southeastern US is interested in trying the Preshaw chanter, I’m currently in Asheville NC and happy to meet up. I’ll also be in back in Boston next month, if anybody up there wants a crack at it. Thanks for looking
