FS - Hernon keyless

FS - Marcus Hernon keyless blackwood and silver Rudall. One of his older ones, I think. Really nice player, easy on the hands with medium holes and good volume. Very traditional Rudall-style embouchure. No cracks or wood repairs, although the slide was replaced by Jon C. after a somewhat ill-fated head-swapping incident. Slide is now sterling silver (replaced the original nickel slide) and looks a tad classier. Comes in original Hernon wooden case. Asking $600 or best offer, and prefer to sell within the States. Pictures available upon request; can’t figure how to post them here…

I have played a Hernon flute before, not this one, and they are great flutes. This is a screaming deal. Good luck Gordon.

Hey Gordon.

So, what are you playing instead? Back to the Hamilton, or did you get rid of that one?
Arbo

kmag - thanks for the Hernon plug. It is a really nice flute!
Arbo - Yeah, I mostly play the Hamilton; the differences between the Hamilton and the Hernon are significant enough for me that I don’t travel easily back and forth between them. On a more personal note, I’m playing less ITM, in any case, and lately I’ve been dividing my time between the Hamilton, my silver flute (which I’m in the process of repadding, so at the moment, I’m sort-of Boehm-less, too) and my guitar, which, on the proper amp, goes to 11…

Gordon,

Eleven is awesome… in ITM, or otherwise! Hope to see you soon!
Arbo

I bet “Big Bottom Babes” would sound great on a Hamilton, with the volume and that great sustain.

Still, reluctantly, trying to sell this flute. I’ve reduced the price to $550 US, or best reasonable offer…

is this flute still for sale?

Had the wonderful experience of listening to Marcus playing his own flute at the Friday Harbor Irish Music week. I have never heard a flute player who is clearly audible over 30 others at a very loud session before. He got a wonderful combination of complexity, volume, and nuance out of his.

Someone should buy this flute-screaming bargain!

Hugh

Before folks get too worked up, Gordon told me a while ago that the flute had been sold. He’ll be along shortly to confirm I’m sure.

Best wishes.

Steve

Yep, Marcus is a mighty player. He taught the flute class at Augusta several years back. It was a great learning experience for me, and a week I’ll always cherish.

Yes - Sorry; haven’t visited in awhile, and my original post had been buried on page 12, next to the obits, when suddenly I received a flurry of inquiries about the Hernon. The flute’s been gone well over a month.

Best to all,
Gordon
