Blackwood with brass rings and tuning slide. Plays and looks wonderful.
I have a new Copeland C coming in October so won’t need two C whistles. I prefer playing the metal whistles over wooden in sessions since I don’t have to worry so much about them getting damaged.
Selling to help fund purchase of a quality wooden flute.
Okay, I figure I ought to put a merciful end to the suffering of anyone out there who might be debating dropping 250 bucks on this whistle:
I talked with Michael about 5 minutes after he posted the sale notice - Sorry gang, but this whistle will soon be joining my family
The good news for you used whistle hunters out there is that this means I’ll probably have to part with a whistle or two of my own here shortly. Especially because in addition to purchasing this O’Riordan (my first), I just got word from Fred Rose that my long awaited Rose Blackwood D is ready!
Yep, the O’Riordan is sold. Amazing how fast that happened… the internet is an amazing thing. I also sold a Seth Gallagher Uillean Chanter in C this morning about 10 minutes after I listed it on the Uilleann-L list.
Loren - You communist, monopolistic, monolithic rathscalion, ergitybimkybumper! I should have that O’Riordan; I don’t have any. Whaaaa…Your jealous friend Phil
Phil, sorry my friend, fortune was on my side today - I just happened to check the board at just the right time Hey, it could be worse, I could have lucked into a D/C set =;^)
Lothar, I’ll be sure to post a few words once I’ve had a chance to play the whistles a bit.
Mick, thanks man The O’Riordan should be in the mail in the next day or two but I have no idea how long before the Rose arrives. At least I’ll have the O’Riordan to keep my mind off the impending Rose delivery.
Ya know it’s funny, until today I didn’t own a single blackwood whistle. Then, all of a sudden I’ve got two on the way! Yeah, life is good
Now for the hard part: Deciding what I’m going to sell to offset the cost of my new acqusitions ;(
Hmm, maybe my Copeland Low F…have to give that some thought…
Loren
Thank heaven you bought the thing, Loren.
My wife had me tied up and locked in
the closet, was feeding me applesauce under
the door. I begged her to check the message
board, told her the whistle wouldn’t last…
Jeez those manacles chafe. You’re not
married, I think.
A Copeland low G whistle is a thing of
extraordinary beauty, IMHO, and
exceedingly useful.
