For Sale: Hunter Palosanto Concert D, fully keyed with brass top. Amazing tone and tuning, along with phenomenal hard D and hard E which are synonymous with Hunter chanters (see sound clips). This is the same chanter that Brazenkane posted for sale last October. To quote his post, “It has been around the world /exposed to many different kinds of climates (UK, Ireland, California, St. Louis, Miami, and back again to the UK) and has held up very well.“
The chanter comes with the original reed made by Sam and an extra reed made by myself. Sam’s reed is excellent and incredibly stable! Where I live it is very hot and dry in the summer (below 20%). My wife and I have an evaporative cooler which, as a byproduct, keeps the humidity in our home between 50-70%. Sam’s reed plays great in the house all the time, but it really shines in the dry climate. The other day I took my pipes out to the garage because my wife had company. According to my digital hygrometer the temp/humidity was 94°/15%. I played Sam’s reed for thirty minutes, and the reed never closed down and only got better and better. Normally a reed in that climate will develop a weak back D or even become unplayable. If you live in a place that gets very dry in the winter time, this chanter/reed will play great.
I’ve had this chanter since last October and it has been my main chanter ever since. Sam was nice enough to put all four keys on it when I bought it. The keys are very nice, comfortable, and I have used them extensively at church in the last 10 months.

Sound files: (Sam’s reed recorded last night. Please excuse my playing. I haven’t really been able to play much in the last month).

I’m asking $1200 US for this chanter. Hunter chanters do not come up for sale very often, and Peter/Sam’s waiting list is closed. It is with much pain and reluctance that I am selling this chanter because of financial need. Please email or PM if interested.
All the best,
