This chanter was made in ebony by Peter Hunter in May of 2005. It has nickel silver hardware and real ivory mounts which were turned from two very old billiard balls. It has two keys, an F natural which wraps around the front of the chanter, and a C natural. I find the F natural key to be very convenient, as it facilitates a smooth transition coming up from the E.

The chanter was recently looked over by the Hunter workshop and pronounced to be in excellent working order.
Hunter’s chanters have been widely praised. They were used by Sean Og Potts and Ronan Browne on the Drones and Chanters recording. I find them very easy to reed up, and I will include a staple forming mandrel, made to Hunter’s specifications, with the chanter.
The tonal characteristics of the chanter are particularly nice, and I have been able to produce a wide array of colors with it. It sits nicely in the hands, and it’s sleek feel and appearance are infectious. The back D is incredible sounding. The chanter has real personality and is very distinguishable. I trust that the new owner will be very pleased to own an instrument of this caliber.
I would not sell this chanter if I was not on the brink of a major purchase that has been years in waiting - the aquisition of my bass regulator which will complete my Seth Gallagher D set. The sale of this chanter will fund the purchase of this long-awaited prize.
Feel free to contact me with questions or comments. I have attached a sound sample (made today) and pictures. The price is $1400, which is considerably lower than the retail price for the chanter and staple forming mandrel together, not to mention a much shorter wait.
