I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to continue to play Irish flute, based on the past couple of years playing in sessions and gigs, I find that its pipes and whistle that I’m first to play, and flutes languish in my closet for months/years on end only coming out to be oiled. When I do play flute, its my keyless Gidgee unlined McGee I toss in the case.
I’ve once again decided to put my fully restored 8-key 1857 Metzler flute up for sale. Includes a custom Hammy Hamilton headjoint I had built a couple of years ago:

It isn’t inexpensive, at $3000.00, I have nearly $3500.00 invested in the instrument, restoration, and custom headjoint.
Here are a couple of recordings of the instrument:

This was originally a presentation flute, when I bought it from David, he provided me with paperwork on the original owner and his family.
Metzlers have a mixed reputation, and some tend to sell quite cheaply, and from what I’ve seen, the quality is all over the board. This one is very special, both in appearance and sound.
Please PM with any questions.
Cheers,
Michael
