Fully restored and repadded 1857 Metzler 8-key flute for sale.
Silver lip plate, keys, rings, silver surrounds around finger holes and tuning slide. In perfect playing condition.
The lip plate is engraved in script with the original build date and name of the person for which it was made, “S. C. Pope”. Previous owner of the instrument, David Migoya, researched the instrument and provided me with documentation on Mr. Pope and his family. Plays in A-440 with the tuning slide about 2/3 of the way out. Really a gorgeous instrument. Plays well in tune and easily across both octaves.
Original restoration done by previous owner, David Migoya. Complete repad and additional restoration done by Katie Rasmussen at “The Windsmith” here in San Diego.
I’m finding that I pretty much only play my McGee 4-key these days and this flute deserves to be played, not collected.
