I’m Orlagh and I have been playing whistle for just over a year now. I have a Sam Murray Blackwood keyless flute, and now wish to learn to play flute. I am looking for a tutor to teach me to play the flute. If there is anyone out there interested or know anyone in and about Belfast that gives flute lessons and would be worth contacting, I would love to hear from you. Please Email me of send a PM.
Thank you for your assistance in advance and this forum is great!!!
Thankfully,
Orlagh
Davy Maguire is the man you’re searching. Friends of mine who have attended
his classes told me that he’s a very good teacher and a great fluteplayer. He lives in Belfast.
I took a class with Francis McPeake this summer and thought he was marvelous. He’ll make you work, but he’s funny, too … A piper, originally, so he’s great for fun stuff like crans & the like. I think he runs a music school in Belfast called McPeake’s or some such. A couple of his students came over and played with his family’s band, and the flute player was brilliant.
Thanks everyone for your kind advice and info. I will be looking up Davy Maguire to see if he would be able to take me for lessons. I believe he may be teaching in the Cresent Arts Centre. Sorry Cathy but I don’t think I’ll ever part with the Murray flute as my Grandfather ordered it for my birthday.
