Florida Joe's reed quest

I don’t want to start a new debate but I would like to bring something to everyone’s attention.

Florida Joe has asked our help in his reed project. I get the impression that the response has so far been far from overwhelming.

I have one cracked reed which was made by Kevin Thompson - the original reed that came with my chanter. I’d not thrown it away because someone told me that I could re-use the staple and because I had some vague notions of trying to copy the dimentions. It’s been 4 years now and it’s still decorating the inside of my pipe case. It’ll probably be another 4 years before I get around to doing anything…if I ever do.

Florida Joe on the other hand is doing something which could potentially benefit us all - catelogging the reeds of the various makers. What’s more, he’s already doing lots to benefit us all - moderating this forum.

Monitoring this forum might, you may think, be a thankless job, but you’d be wrong. We can say thanks to Florida Joe by sending him on our old reeds.

I’m going to do just that and I encourage you all to consider doing the same.

And by the way, thanks Florida Joe, for all the work you do monitoring this forum.

I second this. Joseph’s endeavour has the potential to benefit us all in time (anyone ever need an emergency reed replacement ASAP?) Plus, the guy’s always been supportive of US.

I for one think its a great idea, if it mean,s we can get reeds from Joe ASAP for any well know make of chanter we should all support it

… this is exactly what I am working toward.
