Fliuit June Mc Cormack still available?

Anyone know if June Mc Cormack’s book ‘Fliuit’ is still available?

I’ve tried ordering it through two online bookshops and they can’t get it. One sent an email saying it’s out of print.

I have emailed http://www.draiochtmusic.com/ but they didn’t reply.

Kevin

I ordered it direct and just received a copy a couple of days ago.

Thanks Diane, that’s good news. By Direct you mean from www.draiochtmusic.com ?

I also ordered directly from them with no problem. Maybe they are just on summer vacation. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes. That’s where I ordered it from. It took a few weeks. I ordered it July 13.

By the way, I really like the CD. She actually does play the tune slow the first time. Many people say they play it slow the first time but it’s still blazing fast to me.

My plan is to NOT look at the book and try to learn the tunes by ear only from the CD. To teach myself to learn tunes by ear because I am not able to do that now.

I built a little tool to try and help me with that by letting me set when to start and end a tune so I can loop little bits of it over and over, and slow it down even further if needed. If the tool works out ok, maybe I’ll share it.

Re: McCormack - I ordered her book/CD from her website. It took a couple of weeks to get it.

There is a program called BestPractice that another chiffer told me about.

BestPractice is another practice software option:

It is great. Just “rip” your CD, load the mp3 or wav file into BP. You can start/stop anywhere, loop on any passage, slow down the tune while keeping it on pitch. Very cool!

She may just be getting back from Nova Scotia. She taught at Boxwood this year. Her classes were great

Where’s the fun in just downloading software when you can roll your own?

Save time to practice the flute? :poke:

And I thought I was a computer nerd… geez.

I think they are in the States - returning end of August or thereabouts.

Would you know of a Mac version somewhere? Best, Cyril.

You can try my hand-rolled little tool.

It’s not glamorous. It’s not beautiful. It’s not elegant. It’s just a tool and a work in progress. It works on the Mac. In Firefox it’ll remember your settings, but in Safari it won’t.

Just download, unzip it, and open the index.html file with Safari or Firefox.
