Does anyone know if I can buy a copy of June McCormack’s tutorial “Fliuit”, either in a local Seattle shop or from a web store that can get it to Seattle quickly?
I love Grey Larsen’s book for its obsessive, analytic detail, but I’m getting bogged down in that detail. Everything I’ve read about McCormack’s book says it has a better balance of analysis and example. However, McCormack’s own website seems to be the only place I can order it, and I think it would take a while to have it shipped from Ireland.
Is there a quicker way of getting my hands on the book?
I saw it listed on the Celtic Grooves web site, but their ordering system appears to be that you send them an email telling them what you want, then they see if they can get it from their distributor. If I knew of a brick-and-mortar store that had it in stock somewhere in the U.S.A., I could probably buy it on the phone and ask them to ship it.
I did give the shop in Ballard a call. They didn’t have the book, but I’ll definitely be visiting the shop soon to browse their music CDs.
I also followed MTGuru’s suggestion and call Hobgoblin USA. They hadn’t even heard of the book. It looks like I just have to order it from June’s own web store. I’m actually glad to buy things directly from the folks who created them. The only reason I was trying to get the book quicker was because I’ve been practicing pretty intensively, and don’t want to lose my momentum.
Ordering direct is second only to buying it from artists in person (which is how I got June’s book, when she taught at Boxwood a few years back). I always get fast service from Ireland too. Sometimes you even get a personal note in with it. Many artists seem to do their own mailings if your order from their web page, like Brian Finnegan, Conal Ó Gráda, and the lads from Guidewires.
June’s book is only available direct from her website www.draiochtmusic.com.
Books are shipped directly from Ireland by June. Shipping usually takes one week.
